Timothée Chalamet has an undeniable sense of style that always shines through whenever he steps on a red carpet and the same happened when he attended The King red carpet during the 76th Venice Film Festival at Sala Grande on September 02, 2019 in Venice, Italy.
Chalamet charmed the crowd in a Haider Ackermann silver single-breasted suit with a double-banded waist sash, styled with rumpled rolled cuffs (from the Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection), to reveal his black pointy boots, also from the same brand.
Underneath his blazer, there was a sort of silk panel, attached to the jacket and buttoned up to the collar.
Interestingly enough, I managed to find an interview Haider Ackermann himself had with Vogue.com in which he explained the thought process behind the daring–but at the same time elegant–look: “Timo told me that he would like to open the Venice Film Festival with me, and he asked me what I thought. Since he had been so much out there, I thought to have this kind of discretion.
We’re living in a loud world, and he had been wearing some loud clothes. I thought it would be nice to just be very discreet and elegant. I knew that people would talk about him anyway, so let’s take it gently. I didn’t want to do black, and I didn’t want to do cream either, as I did it for the Oscars with him. So I thought gray. It fits perfectly to Venice, it fits perfectly to a movie that talks about the past, and it fits perfectly to Henry V, who on his wedding day had leggings in light gray. […]
It all came together very easily. I proposed, and there he went.”
Needless to say, this outfit placed Timothée on a very high “style pedestal” that will be quite difficult to reach.
The King is a 2019 epic historical war drama film based on several plays from William Shakespeare‘s “Henriad“.
In the movie, Chalamet plays the role of King Henry “Hal” V of England, one of the greatest warrior kings of medieval England.
