Today I’d love to analyze with you the incredible dress Stella Maxwell wore to this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It’s undoubtedly one of my favorites of this year, especially because it is from an Italian brand that has a secure–and not so hidden–place in my heart.

Stella donned a grey and black gradient Atelier Versace dress with feathered hemline and a medium train from the Spring-Summer 2023 collection paired with black patent leather Versace platform sandals.

As you can see from the lookbook, the model ditched the feather shawl, giving us the chance to admire the signature details of her dress in the best possible way.

She accessorized her ensemble with Lustro diamond earrings and another matching diamond ring on her right index finger.

Maxwell‘s makeup consisted in a glittery eyeshadow and false lashes carefully placed a little bit above the upper lash line to elongate the eyes and give the illusion of a smoked out smokey eye. Her makeup artist for the occasion (Tatyana Makarova) then placed a rose-y blush on her cheeks and opted for a rose lipstick on her pout. All products used were courtesy of Pat McGrath Labs.

Here is a product breakdown (slightly edited for clarity):

– Divine Skin: Rose 001™ The Essence;
– Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Foundation in ‘Light Medium 12‘;
– Skin Fetish: Divine Blush in ‘Divine Bronze Collection Divine Rose III‘;
– MatteTrance™ Lipstick in ‘Flesh 3‘;
Mothership III: Subversive Eyeshadow Palette;
– PermaGel Ultra Glide Eye Pencil in ‘Xtreme Black‘;
FetishEYES™ Mascara.

Her hair was pretty simple, straight and effortlessly combed on the side, probably the best choice since the dress was already intricate per se. The do was courtesy of hairstylist Jacob Rozenberg.

The blonde model showed off a shiny, short black manicure, as well as a matching black pedicure.

Stylist Marc Eram is a guarantee when it comes to the Cannes Film Festival and Stella‘s relationship with Versace is crucial in this case, because she is a loyal friend of the Italian brand who’ll be able to showcase the Atelier‘s latest creations in the best light possible.

I praise models like her and Irina Shayk because their friendship with the most notable creative directors (think Riccardo Tisci, the late Vivienne Westwood and Donatella Versace) goes beyond the economic transaction and the visibility, they’re not just mannequins but they are in control of their narrative and they carefully pick who they work with.
