Another day, another “Barbie” character. This time, Simu Liu, who attended the Los Angeles premiere of the movie more than a week ago.
For the red carpet, Liu wore a pastel blue three-piece Versace suit from the Pre-Fall 2023 “La Vacanza” collection (co-designed with Dua Lipa) paired with Santoni blue and green ombré loafers.
The Canadian actor also accessorized the look with opulent accents: a Rolex Daytona 2-Tone Chronograph watch, a Ben Baller Cuban Link gold diamond chain and two David Yurman Pavé Tags in 18K Rose Gold with Pink Sapphires.
Pro Melissa DeZarate was in charge of the actor’s grooming. She quickly gave him a cut and then proceeded to prep his skin for the red carpet, using Beauty Pie products; here is the list, courtesy of the brand:
“- Triple Hyaluronic Acid Hydra Plump Dewy Face Mist;
– Depuffing Under-Eye Gel Pads;
– Smooth Ahead Intensive Lip Balm;
– Triple Hyaluronic Acid Elastic Lifting Eye Serum;
– Triple Hyaluronic Acid & Lipopeptide Serum;
– Triple Hyaluronic Acid Deep Moisture Miracle Cream.”
Simu Liu is a fervent supporter of Versace, indeed he has worn the brand numerous times.
What I liked about his appreciation of his outfit during a GQ video interview was that he clearly stated that he is bougie, and you can clearly see it even from the quality of the accessories he chose. Then, you add Versace‘s Italian craftsmanship and you have a recipe for success.
As it often happens, he was styled by Jeanne Yang, who knows her way around the best menswear attire.
All in all, I’m proud of men who don’t shy away from colors and who feel free to wear whatever they deem appropriate, we shouldn’t also forget that Liu‘s Chinese background wasn’t exactly that permissive in that regard, even though he has been living in America almost his entire life.
Barbie is a 2023 American fantasy comedy film directed by Greta Gerwig from a screenplay she wrote with Noah Baumbach. Based on the Barbie fashion dolls by Mattel, it is the first live-action Barbie film after over 40 computer-animated direct-to-video and streaming television films.
Actor Simu Liu stars as Ken #2.
