It’s been a long time since we last wrote about the Governors Awards, especially because they tend to be an award ceremony that gets swept up in the mix of the final race towards The Oscars.

This year I paid close attention to the event and I was happy to find out that actress Shailene Woodley was present and wearing something bright and cheery, a step in a different direction from some of her usual black and white ensembles, so I thought I might write about it for a change.

For this year’s Governors, Woodley wore a bright green Carolina Herrera silk long dress with maxi skirt in a darker shade than her top with thin tie-straps from the Pre-Fall 2024 collection, paired with gold open toe sandals.

To go with her dress, she opted for a pair of Cartier emerald and diamonds statement earrings, a Cartier Diamond Collection bracelet in white gold on her left wrist among other rings that she has been consistently wearing lately on her right ring finger.

One of the little perks of analyzing all looks up-close is the chance to notice things that may be not so evident at first glance, and in this case it was Shailene‘s gold/green-ish liner on her upper and lower lash line, right above and below the lashes.

Her makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua is a master of the clean face, but it is these little hints of color that are peculiar to her artistry. Not only does the color complement her dress but it also matches the incredible color of her eyes, something I have always loved about Shailene (plus her hair color too).

For this streamlined ensemble, her hairstylist Lona Vigi went for a simple, sleek parted do. A strand of hair was often put behind her right ear, so she could show off her diamond earrings that balanced her gown so well. If you are curious about her color, it was courtesy of Kari Hill.

Her nails were kept au naturel.

I wasn’t able to find a stylist involved with this look, so I assume this dress was the actress’ doing and if I can be honest, it’s not bad at all.

The silhouette of the dress embraces her body perfectly and the proportions are just right. I also appreciated her will to go out of her comfort zone, even with the light brown Valentino dress she wore to the Los Angeles premiere of “Ferrari“, balanced out with an abundance of gold Howl jewelry.

I am curios to see if this “self-styling” winning streak goes on or if I’ll be able to find out if there is truly still someone involved in her getting ready process after her days with Micaela Erlanger.

According to The Oscarsofficial website: “The Governors Awards is an annual event celebrating awards conferred by the Academy’s Board of Governors – the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award and the Honorary Award.

Recipients are announced each summer and honored at a dinner gala. Highlights from the event are incorporated into the year’s Academy Awards show.”
