Today’s article was prompted by my desire to put the existence of Paul Mescal‘s latest project into the ether, in case you didn’t know about it.
I am an admirer of the actor and I know that some projects get more press than others, even though those same projects are very much worthy of attention, so I wanted to put my input into the possible success of such a movie.
What can I say, I’m a believer and I trust my gut.
Here is what Paul Mescal wore to the New York premiere of “The History of Sound“.

Mescal donned a light blue Gucci cotton poplin striped shirt with a point collar, enriched with a logo fil coupé, paired with a khaki Gucci silk tie, black pants and a pair of black Gucci Men’s Horsebit 1953 loafers with silver accents.
His grooming was courtesy of Josh Knight, who made sure the actor’s hair was well coiffed and in place.
Paul was styled once again by his friend Felicity Kay who probably delved a bit into a vintage perspective for this look.
After all, the movie was set in 1917 and the period feel surely informed the ensemble, which coincidentally aligns perfectly with Mescal‘s taste in clothing–a mix of current and past.

The History of Sound is a 2025 period romance film film directed by Oliver Hermanus, written by Ben Shattuck, and based on a pair of his short stories: “The History of Sound” and “Origin Stories“.
It follows the relationship between two men, Lionel (Paul Mescal) and David (Josh O’Connor), who meet in 1917 while attending the New England Conservatory, and after World War I travel together recording folk songs of their countrymen in rural Maine in the winter of 1920.
