I have a predilection for gray, whether it is used for makeup or clothing, especially because I am very pale and it suits my style better.
You can then imagine that as soon as I saw Florence Pugh wearing it elegantly on the red carpet, I felt the urge to write about it without hesitation, since it’s an uncommon color to see during public appearances.
Here is what I found out.
For the New York City premiere of “Dune: Part Two“, Pugh donned a gray Valentino Haute Couture halter neck dress with a bare back from the Spring 2024 collection, paired with Valentino Garavani Tan-Go 155 metallic leather platform pumps.
She complemented her gracious dress with an Ana Khouri Phillipa ear cuff fully set with natural colorless pavé-set diamonds totaling 3.20 carats and a dangling 1.78-carat colorless pear-shaped diamond, all mounted in 18-karat white gold on her right ear, another Phillipa cuff on her left ear, an Ana Khouri Diamond Phillipa ring on her left ring finger, stacked with another Phillipa ring and a Jacquie Aiche Stud.
What was particularly interesting to me about this look was of course her intricate makeup, which seemed to play with the idea of her costume as Princess Irulan in the movie, slightly reminiscent of her chainmail headpiece and the colors that were mainly present in her wardrobe.
Celebrity MUA Alex Babsky used MAM‘s Makeup Jewelry from the ‘Glow Up‘ collection to create a silver maximalist graphic eyeliner that framed her eyes and then went on to apply false eyelashes to make them pop even more.
All the attention was instantly taken away from her skin and lips that remained quite bare in comparison–which was of course intended.
Evanie Frausto styled the “Don’t Worry Darling” actress’ hair in a futuristic, long ponytail while part of it was rolled on its own using products by Bumble and bumble.
In an effort to match Florence‘s dress, manicurist Dawn Sterling created a set of fake nails that took into account the imagery of Dune, its Sci-Fi and Space Sci-Fi nature and mixed them together to create an avant-garde almond shaped manicure that caught everyone’s attention.
The little jewels that covered the nails and their intricacy were visible and recognizable from afar, a testament to Sterling‘s ability to capture a moment in time and freeze it in a mini work of art.
Pugh was again styled by her friend and collaborator Rebecca Corbin-Murray.
A fervent advocate for her team, the blonde stunner made also sure that it would stay booked and busy during the pandemic, working with them on different projects even when there was nothing to promote during those difficult months.
Pugh is a rare example of someone who recognizes the work of those around her, making sure that they are as respected as she is–a champion of equality and diversity, some would say… a role model.
