I must admit that at first I was having a hard time getting used to Alexander McQueen‘s new creations after Sarah Burton‘s tenure but with time they have grown on me and I now see the vision (I can also say I feel the same about her first steps in Givenchy).

I came to understand that it’s a natural process, especially after years and years of a certain type of creative direction for a brand, because subconsciously you feel attached and when things change dramatically, you need to adjust.

The most important thing for me is to reflect and get to the root of my apparent “discomfort” and once I have done that soul searching, things get better.

That being said, let’s analyze one of the new Alexander McQueen‘s pieces that caught my attention lately: the one worn by Emma Myers during the London premiere of the first part of the second season of the Netflix series “Wednesday“.

For the event, Myers donned a bright red custom Alexander McQueen turtleneck, short, see-through, lacy corset-style bodice dress with a gathered high neckline, puffy shoulders and long sleeves from the Fall-Winter 2025 collection, paired with red Jimmy Choo Etana 80 strappy leather sandals with a square-toe.

Emma was made up by Dana Delaney who focused her attention on the skin and the ways to soothe it and hydrate it.

After that, she also enhanced the actress’ natural beauty by framing her eyes with generous coats of black mascara, a hint of pink blush, some color correction here and there and a vampy crimson pout to seal the deal.

Here below you’ll find all the products Delaney used and a little tutorial if you’d like to replicate the look on your own (courtesy of Dr. Althea, Perfect Cover & Dear.A – the list was slightly edited for clarity).

“Skin Prep

First we cleansed with the Pure Grinding Cleansing Balm. Then followed up with the Jelly Seal Dewy Mask (1) for a boost of hydration.

Next I misted the skin with the Green Calming Serum Mist (2) then patted the Gentle Vitamin C Serum (3) into the skin followed by 345 Relief Cream (4). Keeping the skin moisturized but not over saturated sets the face up for smooth makeup application.

For color I used the Perfect Cover Concealer Palette C02 (5). I love how neutral the color correctors are and how they cover red and blue undertones seamlessly.

I wanted to keep Emma’s complexion dreamy and soft so I used the Fluffy Blush 03 Tutu (6). I love how the Fluffy Blush translated on fair skin giving a very ethereal look.”

Myers‘ hair was styled in a short, low bun with a side parted fringe by Hiroki Kojima–the perfect hairdo that wouldn’t interfere with the intricacies of the dress.

The lovely redhead also showed off a simple, black, short manicure.

The “Family Switch” actress was styled by Jordan Johnson, someone who is able to offer a way of dressing that is refined, not overly theatrical and straight to the point.

The fil rouge throughout all her work is the romanticism and a kind of subdued sensuality that always does the trick for the viewer.

For the “Wednesday” press tour, Johnson was undoubtedly capable of balancing more playful outfits for TV appearances or Youtube interviews, with dresses that made us dream for the red carpets around the world, without losing sight of Emma‘s preferences.
