I am a fervent admirer of Jean Paul Gaultier and I was truly sad when he decided to only work on haute couture, but at the same I also felt hopeful because of his decision to have different guest designers taking the reins of his label every season.

That decision gave us the opportunity to see his brand through different lens, making sure that things would always be evolving and that the brand would never become stale (if you can even believe that such a powerhouse could really become boring in any way).

As soon as I got wind of the news that Ludovic de Saint Sernin was going to be his next choice, I knew that their nature would mix perfectly and that we were in for a treat and I promised myself that I would write about whoever wore one of his creations first–case in point: Emma Chamberlain while attending this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Afterparty.

For the occasion, Chamberlain donned a grey Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture corset dress with cutouts by Ludovic de Saint Sernin from the Spring 2025 collection paired with matching Stuart Weitzman Nudistcurve Hollywood sandals in custom-dyed satin.

She also accessorized the look with a pair of David Yurman High Jewelry pendant chain earrings and a Stax Chain Link Ring on her left thumb, plus a smaller Stax Chain Link Ring on her right index finger-both in 18k white gold with diamonds.

One of the most beguiling things about Emma is the way she wears her makeup.

I have never subscribed to the “clean girl” aesthetic, because I personally wear–what many describe as–men repellent makeup, because for me it’s not about covering my imperfections but rather to make a point and express my artistry. I don’t wear makeup to seduce or appease society, I wear it because it makes me feel stronger and self-confident.

Chamberlain‘s aesthetic is very much rooted into a grungier one, which is not a wonder since she was made up by Lilly Keys, someone who’s known for her rock and roll edge.

Keys applied a foiled eyeshadow on Emma‘s lids while framing her eyes with a little flick of black eyeliner on the sides. To give the illusion of a wet look, the pro applied a silver trait of liner in the inner corners and the center of the upper lash line–nude lips sealed the deal.

Before the event, the internet guru had her color done by Anthony Vincent Ronquillo and she also further had her hair chopped by @fabulousfrank.

Sami Knight styled her hair in a soft, short pixie which he prepped using the Monday Haircare Repair Shampoo & Conditioner, followed by the Monday Haircare Deep Moisture Hair Mask for extra hydration.

Then he applied the Monday Haircare Moisture Leave-In Conditioner, for that tousled, lived-in texture, and finished off with a light spritz of the Monday Haircare Sleek Hold Hairspray to lock everything in place (without the crunch).

According to her vlog, before the event, Emma went to a salon to have hair nails done and she opted for a light grey reflective manicure.

The internet personality was styled by Jared Ellner, who has been able to push Emma a little bit forward style-wise every time through the years.

I think she is a breath of fresh air because she is unconventional in her approach to fashion while having the kind of body that can model any kind of look; Ellner‘s background as a designer certainly helps a lot.
