Anitta made history this year as the first Brazilian artist to win a Video Music Award. To accept the honor and to strut down the red carpet, she wore something extraordinary that I’d like to analyze with you. Let’s start.

Anitta looked divine in a Schiaparelli Haute Couture asymmetrical corset in red silk, attached to a long skirt in red velvet. A necklace composed of red beads held a red lacquered anatomical heart pendant adorned with rhinestones that sat on the left breast. The ensemble stems from the Fall 2022 collection.

The look was of course well planned and meaningful to the artist and a way for her to tell her story through another form of expression–indeed here is what she told Vogue: “I approach fashion for award ceremonies as an opportunity to express my creativity. It’s more than just what you’re wearing, it’s a chance to tell a story through looks in a way that aligns with the message you’re trying to send as an artist.”

The dress was apparently love at first sight: “I knew I needed to wear it. […] I especially loved the detailing on the heart, how it covers my chest like veins. The vein detailing over my heart signifies my love for Brazil. […] Beautiful and intricate detailing always appeals to me, and that was reflected in both my carpet and performance looks. Clearly, I love the color red!”

Anitta accessorized everything with truly sophisticated jewels by Tiffany & Co.: a gold split large Bone Cuff from the Elsa Peretti Collection, SchlumbergerApollo‘ earrings in platinum gold and diamonds, a Schlumberger Sixteen Stone ring with round rubies and gold, a Soleste ruby diamond platinum ring and a Lynn ring in 18k gold and platinum with round brilliant diamonds. The shoes she paired everything with were a gorgeous pair of metallic red D’accori Belle platforms with hourglass platform heels, underneath it all, a pair of black Calzedonia tights.

Can we talk about the makeup? Patrick Ta did his thing and painted the Latina beauty’s eyelids with soft rose-y eyeshadows that complimented the tones of the dress. The products used were from his eponymous makeup line. Here they are, slightly edited for clarity:

Patrick Ta BeautyMajor Dimension IIRose‘ Eyeshadow Palette;
Patrick Ta BeautyMajor Headlines – Double-Take Crème & Powder Blush Duo in ‘She’s Blushing‘ & ‘She’s Baked‘;
Patrick Ta BeautyMonochrome Moment – Silky Lip Crème in ‘She’s Independent‘ with Major Volume Plumping Gloss (no shade specified).

Manicurist Naomi Yasuda created gold chrome ombré nails for the redhead, using the KISS Salon Dip Color Powder in ‘Liaison‘ (the ombré effect was achieved with other.
