This pride month, we’ll introduce you to a new LGBTQ+ Latina superhero: Xochitl Gomez. She plays America Chavez and as a new addition to the Marvel universe, she seems to enjoy attending Marvel related red carpets, like the one for the premiere of “Ms. Marvel“, held at El Capitan Theatre on June 2, 2022.
For the big event, Gomez wore a red HassIdriss Couture ombré Cherry Red Metallic gown from the 2022 collection, paired with velvet burgundy Yves Saint Laurent Tribute platform ankle strap sandals.
Fans couldn’t help but notice the similarities between the dress the actress chose for the premiere and the one Wanda Maximoff (played by Elizabeth Olsen) usually wears as the Scarlet Witch who–let’s just say–chases Gomez for the majority of the the movie “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness“.
Xochitl‘s makeup and hair were courtesy of makeup artist/hairstylist Brittany Gharring, who wrote a breakdown of the products she used here and there between her Tik Tok and her Instagram stories, that’s why we tried to condense everything we found so that you will be able to reproduce Gomez‘s glam at home (huge thanks to @styleofxochitl on Instagram who was kind enough to share the whole breakdown so we could integrate the missing pieces into our research).

Gharring mentioned American singer Joan Jett as the inspiration for the hairdo, which suited the actress perfectly.
Ms. Marvel is an American television miniseries created by Bisha K. Ali for the streaming service Disney+, based on the Marvel Comics featuring the character Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel. It is the seventh television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) produced by Marvel Studios, sharing continuity with the films of the franchise.
It follows Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old fangirl of the Avengers, who struggles to fit in until she gains her own powers.
Xochitl Gomez plays America Chavez in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
In the film, she is a supernatural being from the Utopian Parallel with the ability to travel the Multiverse using large star-shaped portals.
