I waited for “Wonka“‘s press tour to end because I knew that actor Timothée Chalamet is full of surprises and I also knew that he would show up even to the last stop of his promotion spree wearing something remarkable.

Strangely, my bets stopped at what he wore to the Tokyo premiere of the movie, be it the color or the material, but I loved it instantly.

Shades of purple are rarely seen in menswear, or especially worn on the red carpet, so when I have the chance, I immediately have to write about it (I’m still dreaming about what Michael B. Jordan wore to the TIME100 Gala this year).

For the premiere in Japan’s busy capital, Chalamet donned a custom Prada ciré lavender suit, truly reminiscent of some models from the Spring 2024 Menswear collection, paired with white Bottega Veneta Fireman Chelsea ankle boots with round toe.

The attention he always has for his jewelry is unmatched, indeed his partnership with Cartier is second to none.

Here is what we could spot him wearing during his public outing: a Reflection de Cartier necklace, a Reflection de Cartier ring in white gold on his right index finger, another one on his left middle finger and a last one which was almost impossible to identify for us on his left index finger, so for the sake of accuracy, we won’t ID it.

When it comes to Chalamet‘s grooming I’m a bit biased, so much so that his curls have a place on their own on my imaginary pedestal and I genuinely reference them every time someone shows off a voluminous mane on the red carpet.

That’s because as you all may know now, behind those curls there’s the artistry of Jamie Taylor, a lovely and humble professional who has not left the fame that derived from working on such a revered actor get to her head.

It was truly sad for me to see so many pros unemployed during the strikes and I will try to do my best to highlight their work, because groomers are not that known as a profession worldwide and it needs to change–men care about beauty too, it’s not just a woman’s prerogative.

Also, who’s ready for “Dune: Part Two” next year? This is just the beginning guys.

Of course I cannot forget to mention my appreciation for stylist Ryan Hastings who we could spot working–and hiding–in some fan made videos from the premieres.

I think he and the “Bones and All” actor are on the same wavelength, both sharing a true passion for fashion and for the refined but striking and unexpected ensembles that the field has to offer.

What I mean is that this outfit for the first premiere set the tone for the following ones and it feels very organic to the actor’s way of dressing by himself. Playing with color was the icing on the cake, a black version of the same wouldn’t have had the same effect.
