Tessa Thompson‘s dress for the closing ceremony of last year’s Venice Film Festival was love at first sight for me and now that the Haute Couture Fashion Week is coming up, I could not think of a better moment to write about it.

Tessa showed up in an array of incredible ensembles last year and rest assured that this article will not be the last one I’ll write about her presence as a jury member.

For the red carpet, Thompson donned an ivory silk taffeta dress, decorated on its bustier with vintage pearls and embroidered grapes from the Fall 2022 Couture collection. On her ears you could also see a pair of big Schiaparelli gold round earrings from the same collection.

She accessorized the precious ensemble with a Pomellato Nudo ring in rose gold and titanium with obsidian and black diamonds and another smaller one, finishing everything off with a pair of Santoni pointed slingback pumps with double buckle in black patent leather.

What drew me to this look was the combination of makeup and hair which was avant-garde and unusual, especially for such an important red carpet as the one in question.

Makeup artist Lila Guéant created for the actress a black and grey smokey eye that was kept lighter by the application of a glittery eyeshadow on the lid, blended a bit on the lower lash line too.

Products were of course courtesy of Armani Beauty, since she is an ambassador.

Hairstylist Peter Lux gave her hair a wet looking effect, mixing classic finger waves and beachy tousled lengths, while her red hue was courtesy of colorist Aura Friedman, who mentioned using K18 Hair products on her Instagram.

The “Westworld” actress also showed off a pink-ish square manicure that we believe was courtesy of an Italian agency (they already worked on her nails when she wore the light green Marc Jacobs dress).

For the sake of accuracy, we asked for confirmation from said agency and will update this space as soon as we know something more (if they’ll get back to us eventually, we cannot assure that).

Stylists Wayman and Micah are always a guarantee of quality and spectacle when they dress their clients.

I clearly remember how excited I was last year during the festival because every day I could look forward to the fabulous creations that I knew I would see on the red carpet, seen that Tessa was a jury member (so she got to attend every event related to the festival, which translates into a huge amount of work from both sides).

Thank you for being such incredible creatives and thank you Tessa for being such a multifaceted and inspiring human being.
