The Diamond Ball is an annual event which helps raising money for the Clara Lionel Foundation, Rihanna‘s charitable organization founded in 2012–named after her grandparents Clara and Lionel Braithwaite–which focuses on providing support to global girls’ education programs and humanitarian aid programs in her native Caribbean, with a heavy focus on climate change resiliency. The method of fundraising is a hefty entrance price tag and a live auction.
CLF supports and funds effective education and emergency response programs around the world. With the voices of Rihanna and her fans, CLF also engages in global advocacy with the goal of improving the quality of life for young people everywhere. Current programs include primary and secondary education programs in Malawi, Barbados and Senegal, emergency response programs in the Caribbean and across the globe, and the Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program.
