Today we’ll write about a dreamy outfit that made the rounds during this year’s Venice Film Festival. The lucky girl who wore it? Stranger Things‘ actress Sadie Sink–and dare we say, after a perilous journey.

Sink looked godly in an Alexander McQueen powder blue tulle strapless dress with a cutaway waist and finished with a crystal harness embroidery, from the Pre-Spring 2023 collection.

But all breakout moments don’t come without their fair share of troubles, indeed delivering the gown to Sadie‘s stylist Molly Dickson (in a place such as Venice) was not an easy task and it wasn’t also easy to fit the actress before the event.

Here is what Dickson shared with her Instagram followers regarding the matter (slightly edited for clarity): “The journey of the gown… End of July I received an email from Alexander McQueen‘s PR with their lookbooks from their most recent collection. This gown was the last image in the lookbook and I knew right away it was meant to be for Sadie for the Venice Film Festival premiere. We fit Sadie ten days before the film festival in NYC and the gown was not available over those dates. After much persistence and trying to sort out logistical issues, we finally were able to get the gown and fit her the day before the premiere in Venice. Fitting the day before a premiere of this caliber is very uncommon as we generally need time for multiple fittings for tailoring etc and if you work with me you know the anxiety that this would cause me. We then did three more quick fittings the day of the premiere whenever Sadie had a break from press.

Next was the issue of getting the gown from my tailor who was on a different island in Venice all while a regatta (editor’s note: a boat race) was happening and all waterways were closed getting to him and the gown. Thank you to the Jolibe Atelier team for working so last minute on making this magical moment happen. It was perfection and truly it was meant to be.”

She accessorized the look with Giuseppe Zanotti Bebe Touch patent leather platform open toe sandals and a Chopard snake ring with flower decorations.

Makeup artist Nina Park painted the “Stranger Things” actress eyelids with a periwinkle blue eyeshadow and framed the eyes with a simple eyeliner flick. Her hair was styled in undone Botticelli waves by Halley Brisker.

Sadie‘s nails were painted in a peach-y hue; so far we were not able to identify who did them for her, but we will make sure to update you whenever we’ll find out.

I fell in love with the dress instantly, especially after knowing all the trouble Molly Dickson went through to bring it safe and sound to Sadie. The craftsmanship that goes into an Alexander McQueen ensemble is no secret to anyone and for the first premiere of the movie in Venice it was the right choice, she truly stood out on the red carpet.

The redhead looked like a full grown woman, finally in a full grown movie role and I personally can’t wait to watch it and cry my eyes out.
