Lately, we have seen a lot of artists taking inspiration from divas and iconic moments from the past, which is something that I find truly fascinating, because I see it as something truly respectful but at the same time makes me wonder about originality in the entertainment space.

I often ask myself: when is it too much? Are we entering an era where we are copying and referencing too much from the past without developing our own style in the meantime? This is also something that we should care about, I think.

That being said, I’d love to talk about someone who cares a lot about those aforementioned references, our dear Sabrina Carpenter attending the newly minted W Magazine‘s Best Performances Party.

Carpenter was seen in a pink off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood Nova Cora crΓͺpe satin minidress, paired with matching Stuart Weitzman Nudistcurve Hollywood platform sandals.

To complement her lovely ensemble, she opted for a custom Azature diamond necklace featuring three separate necklaces, totaling 43,5 carats of flawless D diamonds, with each stone approximately .5 carat and the center pear diamond totaling 13 carats all set in 18k white gold–plus a pair of stunning 4 carat stones stud earrings.

The dress was very reminiscent of the one Marilyn Monroe wore in the 1953 movie “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes“, the actress–as we all know–is one of her visual inspirations.

Sabrina was made up by makeup artist extraordinaire Mary Phillips who went for a very natural, timeless look that exuded sophistication and poise. The secret formula? Light coats of mascara on the lower and upper lash line, a little black eyeliner flick, a nude pout and rose blush that matched the singer’s dress.

Meanwhile, her hair was styled in a glamorous do with wavy ends and a parted fringe by Scott King, in a move that seemed to mimic the hairstyle Monroe sported in the aforesaid movie mentioned above.

The petite beauty also showed off a long leopard print French manicure, that I assume was courtesy of the careful work of her friend Zola Ganzorigt, a woman who never shies away from starting new trends whenever she can.

For the occasion, Carpenter was styled by Jared Ellner, someone who is able to highlight the actress’ strengths and weaknesses when it comes to dressing, especially because she is truly petite and many times–even when you are out shopping–real life shows and teaches you that brands tend to target people who are very tall and very slim. It’s different when you’re smaller.

So far, Ellner has been great at displaying femininity is all its facets, be it through a blonde bombshell point of view (see Sabrina Carpenter) or a more avant-garde one (see Emma Chamberlain).
