Robert Downey Jr. at “Oppenheimer” Premiere – London

On this stormy and breezy Monday I wanted to translate the crazy climate into imagery once again and I did it by choosing to write about actor Robert Downey Jr. attending the London premiere of one of the most awaited movies of the year, “Oppenheimer“.

For the premiere, Robert wore a grey Tom Ford Atticus checked wool blazer featuring a classic Prince of Wales design all over, detailed with wide peaked lapels and a center break point, paired with matching pants.

Underneath the jacket, he donned a light grey Tom Ford slim-fit cotton-poplin shirt, combined with a dark grey Tom Ford Polka Dot tie. Additional accessories were a pair of Manolo Blahnik black and grey boots and black Oliver Peoples D-Frame acetate sunglasses with slightly tinted lenses.

I was also able to spot a glimpse of a black Richard Mille watch with gold accents, but it was incredibly difficult to properly identify.

One of the perks of what I do, is to work on different people who may have a deep relationship with a specific franchise or character and in this case it was interesting to spot an arc reactor ring on his left middle finger.

If you are wondering what it is and you have never watched “Iron Man“, you should know that it is a fusion type power source featuring a palladium core, that was the initial power source of the first Iron Man suits.

Of course someone like Downey Jr. who played the titular character for several years, would have a connection to it and to honor the character even while promoting a different project, is a testament to the actor’s loyalty to someone who has meant so much throughout his career.

The other ring you see, is his Loree Rodkin wedding ring (the designer was also his former manager).

We should also mention his immaculate grooming by Davy Newkirk–a clean cut, a lightly trimmed beard and a Tom Ford suit were the perfect combo.

By the way, knowing the tone of the movie and UK’s gloomy days, one couldn’t go wrong with a suit like that (he already played with colors for the photocalls and the Paris premiere, so we’ll forgive him this time).

Downey Jr. is one of many actors who are changing stylists lately, indeed this time he was styled by Erica Cloud. It is not the first time though, they already collaborated in the past.

Right now, I noticed that there is a sort of wave of people entering different phases of their lives who decide to break free from the past, looking at a different future with new eyes and frankly… it’s interesting.

I admit that I personally started playing a guessing game some time ago, seeing if my observation skills are that good. Sometimes I end up surprised but most of the time I am right.

Oppenheimer is a 2023 epic biographical thriller film written and directed by Christopher Nolan.

Based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, the film chronicles the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, a theoretical physicist who was pivotal in developing the first nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project, and thereby ushering in the Atomic Age.

Robert Downey Jr. stars as Lewis Strauss, a senior member of the United States Atomic Energy Commission.
