On the heels of the Easter holidays, I was in the mood for something casual and subdued, so I thought about what Ricky Martin wore to the Beverly Hills premiere of “Palm Royale“.

Martin‘s original dream was to become an actor and as you all may know, things have gone quite differently, but it’s never too late to turn things around, especially if you do not want to regret not doing something just out of fear of a possible failure.

For the event, the Puerto Rican singer and songwriter donned a black Balenciaga shirt, black R.Swiader Dominik trousers, paired with black Bottega Veneta Lug Loafers featuring a glossy calfskin upper with a rubber flatform outsole.

To complement his elegant get-up, he opted for a sterling silver Bottega Veneta Intreccio necklace with T-bar closure, a black Bottega Veneta Intrecciato belt to keep everything tight and secured, plus a Wilfredo Rosado emerald ring on his left ring finger, for a further touch of class.

Once interviewed on the red carpet for Access Hollywood, the singer revealed that he wanted to “keep things simple, super cool but super chill and relaxed, like a pajamas kind of vibe”.

The Puerto Rican’s heartthrob’s grooming was courtesy of Hanic Arias who evened out his skin tone while hairstylist Shaul Arbiv made sure his hair was slicked back in place.

When it came to his styling, Douglas VanLaningham is one of Ricky‘s most frequent collaborators, someone that with his editorial experience can make any occasion look like a million bucks, even if it means wearing a black ensemble but putting the utmost care into the details, from fabrics to accessories.

VanLaningham was also kind enough to answer my request for a clarification related to the contents of this article, something that makes his work even more respectable in my eyes–we all know that some people who work with such heavyweights tend to be out of touch sometimes, it was never the case with VanLaningham–always willing to give a helping hand.

Ricky Martin is someone who cares a lot about his appearance, so it comes as no surprise that he chose to work with someone with such knowledge of his craft.

The series is chaotic and colorful per se, a crescendo of adventures and events, so I appreciated his change of pace for the premiere.
