Renato Bernardi is a freelance makeup artist whose versatility and meticulous research of texture, colors and glamour has firmly established his reputation in the fashion and beauty industry.
In 1982 he began his career in New York with Diego Dalla Palma, and subsequently became freelance for one of the most well known agencies in N.Y., regularly traveling to Europe to follow the major fashion shows. In 1989 he returned to live permanently in Milan and in 1998 he opened the “Renato Bernardi Make Up lmage” Management for freelance makeup artists and hair stylists until December 2009.
Since 1996, Renato Bernardi has been following the creation of the “Versace Makeup” line, thus becoming its Creative Director until December 2004.
During his career, he has worked with photographers such as Gianpaolo Barbieri, Walter Chin, Michel Comte, Fabrizio Ferri, Piero Gemelli, Jean-Paul Goude, David LaChapelle, Annie Liebowitz, Peter Lindberg, Tiziano Magni, Helmut Newton, Doug Ordway, Rankin, Tyen and many others.
He has also been working for the most important fashion magazines and advertising campaigns.
Bernardi has also been acting as the key makeup artist for the fashion shows of the greatest world stylists of our time, amongst them names such as Versace, Versus, Giorgio Armani, Valentino and many others.
He frequently does Donatella Versace‘s makeup.
