Chaos erupted when fashion week invaded Milan these last days, that’s why we are a little bit behind here. But rest assured that we are also working on bringing you the most interesting looks from the Big 4.
However, today we’ll report on a lovely, dreamy ensemble worn by Rebecca Ferguson for the London premiere of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One“.
On the red carpet, Ferguson donned a Vivienne Westwood Moonlight corseted column gown in pale gold silk lamé crepe silk, embellished with braided chains dancing across an asymmetric neckline. The look is reminiscent of Ancient Greek statues and stems from the Bridal 2023 Couture collection.
The look was accessorized with white and cream Vivienne Westwood platform shoes with pink laces.
According to two articles by 10 Magazine and SHOWstudio, the dresses from the collection are “sustainably made in England with recycled sequins and polyester, and responsibly sourced viscose and acetate. Even the linings of the dresses are made with materials left over from previous seasons.”
Also, “the brand has partnered with environmental groups including Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and Global Recycled Standard, to guarantee their recycled viscose, acetate, and polyester meet the highest environmental, social, and economic standards while also being 100% traceable.”
“By keeping production local the brand is counteracting the environmental and social issues currently plaguing the fashion industry. Production on a smaller scale not only allows for the brand to better curb its environmental impact but also upkeep its highest standards.”
The makeup looked as if Ferguson had just gotten out of the water: makeup artist Emma Lovell used a generous amount of glittery gold eyeshadow on the inner corners of her eyes, keeping the rest of the face almost bare but glowy on the apples of the cheeks. The freckles were in plain sight.
The hair was styled by Jillian Halouska in a wet looking do, keeping up the water goddess/airy/fluid theme. These avant-garde hairstyles are the perfect way to complement a Vivienne Westwood dress–something grungy and not too polished.
The manicure was kept pretty minimal, indeed manicurist Becca O’Reilly painted Rebecca‘s nails with a Bio Sculpture Gel nail polish in the shade Crème for the base and Liquorice for the little black dots that were carefully placed on each lunula.
It was love at first sight as soon as I saw this gown. Worn by someone with a personality and talent such as that of Rebecca Ferguson was the icing on the cake.
Rebecca is a rebel, an intellectual, a very free woman, and these qualities also represent what the late Dame Vivienne Westwood stood for and who she was too.
It comes as no surprise that stylist/artist Tom Eerebout was behind this look, just think about what he has been able to create with his colleague Sandra Amador while styling Lady Gaga–we are talking about heavy hitters here.
Definitely one of the best outfits of 2023, maybe not for everyone, but it will surely never be forgotten.
