Fixture of the red carpet/entrepreneur/model Emily Ratajkowski was present at the MET Gala 2019.

For the occasion, Ratajkowski wore a custom Dundas halter-necked dress with a full bodice cut-out, open back, and a sheer silhouette, complete with a small train.

The inspiration behind the dress was an outfit Cher wore at the Rock Awards in Santa Monica in 1975, the headpiece was reminiscent of one Cher wore during her 1979 TV Show Cher… And Other Fantasies.

In an abcNEWS interviewRatajkowski stated that the MET Gala was the perfect opportunity to pay homage to the legendary Cher.

“For me, Cher is just such an icon; she is someone that I have always looked up to. Moonstruck was one of my favorite movies growing up. It still is. There is not always a moment to really pay homage to her—and we had this really great vision of doing that and pushing that limit, and this is the opportunity to do it.”

Dundas‘ Creative director Peter Dundas said he played with “Egyptian motifs and included an entire wing that goes from the side of the dress to the back.”

Then, the challenge was to make a headdress that would have been related to that, hence the wings on the sides. Actually, the wings took three weeks to be made.

Here is a list of all the products makeup artist Linda Hay used on her face; for lashes she chopped up a mix of Le Céline, Ardell & Huda Beauty for a light, feathery, airy finish–she wanted them to look long, spidery, uneven but balanced.

For the body she mixed Golden Glow drops with a lotion from Lancôme. Take a look at her make up table HERE.

Hairstylist Jennifer Yepez used Hidden Crown hair extensions and Kérastase products.

Nail artist Mei Kawajiri went for clear milky long round nails not to add too much to the already intricated look.

To complete the look, she opted for a Messika Snake Dance bracelet from the high jewelry collection, Born to Be Wild.
