The movie “Gladiator” has often been at the top of my mind because it is a “comfort movie” for my best friend’s family. Her father raves about it all the time and watches it back to back, several times a week (yes, a week).

Needless to say that I was aware of its themes and imagery and as soon as I read that Paul Mescal was going to be one of the main characters in its sequel, I nodded in agreement.

After all, his distinctive body features and his talent fit incredibly well with the whole narrative and he surely was going to be a big push for people to go to see the flick in theaters worldwide–men and women alike.

Here is what the actor wore to the “Gladiator II” movie premiere in Sydney.

Mescal wore a light brown custom Gucci double breasted peak lapel suit reminiscent of a model shown during the Spring 2025 Menswear runway show, paired with a cream men’s shirt with a V neckline and black boots.

While interacting with his fans, he was seen wearing a pair of black Gucci Generation Light rectangular sunglasses with dark grey lenses and a Baignoire de Cartier mini model watch in 18k yellow gold with a beaded crown set with a sapphire cabochon and a black varnished calfskin strap.

Many watch lovers will certainly rejoice admiring this little piece of art, that’s how Paul described these cute little watches he’s wearing lately in a Vogue video interview too.

Mescal is very much into undone hair and collaborating with groomer/hairstylist Josh Knight during the press tour for the movie seems to be second nature to him.

Knight refined his mullet and his approach was very unfussy and simple.

According to his stylist Felicity Kay, this being a very prestigious film, made her want to dress him as a leading man, leaning into vintage and Old Hollywood references, but always looking for a better version of the things he already likes.

Of course Kay also wanted to make every premiere stand on its own, hence why she mixed custom designs and different hues, staying true to the actor’s style.

Lately I had the pleasure to watch different interviews by male actors working with female stylists and I was so proud to see the amount of respect these young folks give their female counterparts and how much they value their input–it warmed my heart, and I need these feelings lately.
