Actress Natalie Portman is back on the awards circuit thanks to her role in the movie “May December” and two weeks ago she took part in the Gotham Awards where she presented the Best Feature category with her co-star Julianne Moore.

Her ensemble for the occasion may seem a simple look, but instead, the amount of research that went into it from our part was quite considerable, and I’d like to share with you what I found out through my work.

First of all, Portman was seen wearing a Dior Haute Couture floral bustier shoulderless dress that was showcased during the jewelry presentation of “Les Jardins de la Couture” in the ambiance of Lake Como at the Villa Erba in June.

The dresses from the show were full of vibrant colors and intricate floral motifs, exactly like the jewels. They were intentionally crafted to harmonize with Victoire de Castellane‘s creations, the Creative Director of Dior Jewelry.

The actress accessorized her look with a pair of silver Jimmy Choo Minny 100 mirror sandals, a Couture Dior right ear piece in 18k white gold and diamonds, two Dior Bois de Rose rings in white gold and diamonds on her right index and middle fingers, plus a black rectangular clutch.

Celebrity makeup artist Lisa Storey did her makeup, which consisted of a thick trait of black eyeliner and earthy tones blended out towards the temples and on the lower lash line–abundant coats of mascara grounded the look even more.

Her hair was styled in a voluminous do with middle part by Mara Roszak. The pro used her own line of haircare products to achieve shiny and healthy looking waves (apparently they were all new products, we are so ready to find out which ones they were on a later date).

The “Annihilation” actress’ short, milky manicure was courtesy of Maki Sakamoto. With all the splashes of color and the silver fabric that was part of the dress, this was the perfect choice that did not overpower the dress and kept the ensemble chic and refined.

Leave it to stylist Ryan Hastings to think of such a dress and hidden gem to wear during one of the pivotal award shows that will shape the upcoming Oscars’ race.

Portman is a Dior Beauty global ambassador, so we all know that the actress has a deep and nurtured relationship with the brand, hence why their collaboration was not a surprise. Also, what is lovely about the dress is that it accentuates her petite figure and that it symbolizes how much Dior values and bets on the actress and her talent.

May December is a 2023 American drama film directed by Todd Haynes from a screenplay by Samy Burch, based on a story by Burch and Alex Mechanik.

The movie is loosely inspired by Mary Kay Letourneau, and it stars Natalie Portman as an actress who travels to Georgia to meet and study the life of the a controversial woman she is set to play in a film (played by Julianne Moore).
