Naomi Campbell came to slay for last year’s MET Gala, let’s see how she managed to wear a dress that didn’t even exist two days prior.
Campbell wore a custom Valentino Haute Couture pale pink silk chiffon dress, along with a Marabou floor touching cape embroidered with feathers and sequins, designed for her by Pierpaolo.
According to a Vogue.com video in which Naomi talked about all her MET looks, the dress was different from the final version we saw on the red carpet and probably even more pompous: “I went up to Valentino‘s store to do my fitting. I tried my dress but there was something […] it was too much fabric, I felt, and Pierpaolo came and he completely started the dress from scratch. Basically, he made me a bodysuit and put like a skirt around and then I had the incredible cape. I mean, my outfit was really lace tights and a chiffon top with a chiffon skirt around and it was made in like 30 hours.”
And the indecisiveness poured into the hair decisions as well: “This hair […] first it was gonna be short hair […] then it was gonna be an afro hair […] and then we decided to have 40 inches of hair. We wanted long hair. We thought 40 inches would be perfect.”
Makeup artist Adam Wolfgang used Pat McGrath Labs on her face and In Fiore as skincare.
When it came to jewelry, she opted for Bulgari, indeed according to a Forbes‘ article: “She wore archival Bulgari ruby and diamond jewels paired with high jewelry earrings and bracelets. The standout was a diamond heritage bracelet, circa 1959, a red carpet favorite worn by actresses Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner and Julia Roberts in prior years.”
