I never go out of my way to write about black ensembles unless they are truly worth of notice and luckily, today it was the case.
While rummaging through my notes and screenshots, I ended up on a dark and chic ensemble worn by someone who always intrigued me as an artist: Moses Sumney.
For the Los Angeles premiere of “MaXXXine“, Sumney was seen wearing a total black Ann Demeulemeester ensemble from the Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection, paired with an Emanuele Bicocchi custom made Leather Choker with gold Fleury Cross.
He also accessorized his look with other interesting jewels by Emanuele Bicocchi: a Gold Onyx Signet Ring in gold plated sterling silver with an octagon-shaped black onyx natural stone on his left index finger, a Gold Arabesque Onyx Chevalier Ring with a round onyx stone on his right index finger, a Gold Avelli Cross Ring crafted from gold plated sterling silver with a polished finish on his right ring finger and black pointy boots.
Moses‘ grooming was courtesy of Jaime Diaz, a professional who’s known for his focus on the skin.
This is something we are clearly seeing here, thanks to Diaz‘s emphasis on its luminosity probably achieved with clever placements of highlighter and effective skincare as a base for the makeup.
Sumney was styled by Lisa Jarvis, who I have come to know thanks to her work with Mahmood and Labrinth. Her vision is peculiar and very much aligned with that of Moses.
The artist mainly wears black and not in a way that feels ripetitive, but a way that is rather chic and avant-garde, playing with fabrics and transparencies.
Moses‘ knows his body and the emotions people feel when they look at him, he acknowledges the fact that people stare.
It’s no wonder that he confided in the wise hands of Jarvis, an incredibly creative editorial and fashion stylist who could translate his needs for an important premiere such as this one, without making him look ordinary or lazy.

It is the third installment in West‘s X film series and a direct sequel to X (2022).
In the movie, Moses Sumney stars as Leon, a video store employee.
