Today we will talk about this year’s TIME100 Gala and to be honest, I have never written about this particular event because the dress code may be a little bit binding and make things unexciting.
This means however that Michael B. Jordan‘s outfit for the night was so good that I had to run here and make you all part of the conversation. Let’s see it together.
For the celebration, Jordan wore a lilac Tom Ford single breasted blazer with peaked lapels from the Spring 2023 Menswear collection, paired with a white men’s shirt with long sleeves and a silk purple Tom Ford Knit patterned tie.
He combined his ensemble with black Tom Ford Elkan leather Chelsea boots, a pair of diamond studs and two Tiffany & Co. T1 Wide Diamond Hinged bangles in 18k white gold.
His grooming was courtesy of Tasha Reiko Brown. On her Instagram, the pro mentioned using the Boy de CHANEL line to give the actor his signature flawless complexion. As always, his dear friend and barber Jove Edmond made sure his beard and cut were up to par.
One thing that brings me joy while writing about Black actors and creatives alike, is that they do love to play with color, which makes it even more enjoyable when we are talking about menswear. I truly don’t like boring outfits and sometimes I can’t do anything about it so I have to succumb and write about them, especially if we are talking about important events that need to be highlighted for a reason or another.
In this instance and in general when it comes to Michael B. Jordan and his stylist Jason Bolden, I truly appreciate their collaborative efforts and their will to alternate between ‘corporate outfits’ and more striking ones but with a common denominator: meticulous attention to detail.
You will always find a precious pin on one of Michael‘s lapels, a particular diamond ring adorning his fingers, or an opulent watch around his wrists. All these things put together, make him one of the most interesting men to watch on the red carpet (many ‘best dressed’ charts confirm it).
Bolden is an impressive stylist. His diverse array of clients is a testament to his skills and his impeccable taste.
If you don’t follow him, make sure you do, even if it’s just to look at his Instagram stories full of references and behind-the-scenes shots (there is nothing more valuable to me than to see how a look comes to life).
He styles both men and women and he’s incredibly good at it.
In his speech, Jordan dedicated a toast to his sister Jamila Jordan–Theus who is the Head of Motion Picture at Genius Entertainment.
TIME100 is an annual listicle of the 100 most influential people in the world, put together by the American news magazine Time.
It was first published in 1999 and is now an annual event. Appearing on the list is often seen as an honor, and Time makes it clear that entrants are recognized for changing the world, regardless of the consequences of their actions.
The final list of influential individuals is exclusively chosen by Time editors, with nominations coming from the Time 100 alumni and the magazine’s international writing staff.
The commemorative gala is held annually in Manhattan.
