Today’s article is a favorite of ours and its subject made VMAs‘ history.

Do you remember Megan Fox‘s dress for the event in 2021? We surely do and it’ll be very difficult to top it, even for her.

Fox donned a custom version of a see-through Mugler dress, probably inspired by different designs from the Spring 2021 Ready-to-Wear collection, paired with champagne gold, satin Jimmy Choo platform open-toe pumps and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Fun fact about the dress: Megan tried it on 6 months before she wore it, but she knew it needed the right moment. Initially she thought about wearing it to a Vegas guest appearance, but thought it was too good even for that. Her stylist Maeve Raelly revealed on her Youtube channel that the actress had to psyche herself a lot before wearing it, and that she appreciates her confidence in pulling it off.

The makeup was perfect, from afar and up-close. Ash K Holm defined her eyes with a black trait of eyeliner and a clean, reflective lid to support it. The MUA also opted for iper-defined dark brows and a nude pout. All products used were courtesy of Buxom.

Here’s the breakdown:

EYES: using the Buxom x Ash K Holm Palette

Brow Bone/Inner Lid- ‘Iconic’ to keep eyes light and peachy;
Inner Corner – applied ‘Living’ to tear duct to highlight (also used this shade to highlight the cheeks/bridge of the nose);
Lid – with fingertips, applied ‘Stacks’ on center and outer lid for a rich glow;
Crease – added ‘Unfiltered’ with a fluffy blending brush as a transition shade.
Followed by ‘Teddy’ in the outer crease.
Eyeliner – with a damp angled brush, applied ‘Smokin’;
Buxom’s Lash Mascara;

Bronzer – ‘Rooftop Tan’ Staycation Vibes Primer-Infused Bronzer;
Blush – Wanderlust Primer-Infused blush in shade ‘Seychelles’ + ‘1989’ eyeshadow from the ‘Ash K Holm Eye Palette’;
Highlight – Applied Buxom’s ‘Divine Goddess Luminizer’ to highlight the high points of the face and body;

Lip Prep – Buxom’s Powerful Lip Scrub
Lip Liner – Buxom’s Powerline Plumping Lip Liner in shade ‘Hush Hush Henna’;
Lipstick – Buxom’s Full Force Plumping Lipstick ‘Fly Girl’;
Lip Gloss – ‘Dolly’ Full-On Plumping Lip Cream to center of lips.

Hairstylist Andrew Fitzsimons styled her hair in a middle part and ‘ocean goddess waves’ using products by Living Proof and Hidden Crown Hair.

In an interview for the Daily Mail, the pro detailed his process:

“She is wearing Hidden Crown Hair Clip Ins in ‘Deepest Brown 1B‘.
He then wet the hair throughout.
“To recreate the look, apply Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray liberally throughout the hair for instant detangling as well as heat protection before using hot tools.
Before blowing out your tresses, spread two pumps of Living Proof Restore Smooth Blowout Concentrate in hands and to damp sectioned hair, (avoiding roots). Then, wave the hair with a small curling iron in sections. For the dripping wet look, once all of the hair is waved, apply a small amount of fast-absorbing No Frizz Vanishing Oil. […]
For all-night hold and to tackle flyways, finish with Living Proof Flex Hairspray.”

I’m awaiting confirmation regarding her nails, but the thing I can say is that they were painted with a beige hue and the writing on them said: “I’m Lost Baby” – “Let’s Find You”.

For those who don’t know, it is a nod to the first time Megan met Machine Gun Kelly and knew right away that they were going to end up together.

Apparently, while they were filming “Midnight in the Switchgrass” in 2020, Fox invited him into her trailer for lunch one day and asked him: “How do you feel?” and he replied, “I’m lost” and she said, “Let’s find you.”

Since her comeback, Megan has always been styled by Maeve Reilly. They are friends and what I like about their dynamic is that Maeve is truly the actress’ hype girl.

Even though you may see Fox as tough on the outside, she is an incredibly shy woman and deals with a lot of body dysmorphia (I know it sounds insane but you never know what some people go through on a daily basis). She even told Sports Illustrated: “I don’t ever see myself the way other people see me.”

Megan Fox attended the event with her hubby Machine Gun Kelly who was nominated and who performed a song with Travis Barker.
Fox presented the performance with Kourtney Kardashian (Travis‘ wife).
