Corsets are at the center of the buzz right now, and who knows corsets better than anyone? A certain English fashion designer that we’ll mention shortly.

Actress Maude Apatow wore that same designer to this year’s HBO Max Emmy Awards afterparty and it was a feast for the eyes.

To the party, Apatow donned a white custom Vivienne Westwood corset long dress. The gown was reminiscent of the Bridal Spring 2020 collection, taking cues from different designs that were part of the lookbook.

She paired her look with a Cartier pear shaped yellow sapphire pendant necklace and what appeared to be ‘Etincelle de Cartier‘ diamond earrings. In some behind-the-scenes pictures, she is also seen carrying a black clasp clutch bag. Her shoes seemed to be a pair of black platform sandals, barely visible from under her floor-length dress.

The “Euphoria” actress rocked a bronze-y/golden smokey eye, thanks to the expert hands of Kelsey Deenihan. Her eyes were framed with a touch of black kohl pencil and abundant lengthening mascara.

Her hair was styled in a modern soft take of the 20’s style waves, and a side part by hairstylist Peter Lux.

Concerning Maude‘s nails, I have good reason to believe that Michelle Humphrey did them for her, since the actress rocked the same color and style while attending both the Venice Film Festival (September 2, 2022) and the Fendi 25th Anniversary of the Baguette Fashion Show (September 09, 2022). The afterparty took place only three days later.

At the time of the Venice Film Festival, Humphrey mentioned using the Bio Sculpture gel nail polish in the shade ‘Valentina‘.

Some people online judged the look as too serious, but I think that Maude herself gravitates towards timeless, streamlined fashion pieces and that’s where she feels the most comfortable. Not everyone is made for high drama and that’s okay too.

Also, one thing that her stylist Mimi Cuttrell can do is to elevate the style of her clients, by putting them in heritage brands, furthering their narrative and making them appealing to new audiences with a modern approach (of course not on a day to day basis, but when the occasion seems appropriate).
