You know we are great at extensive MET Gala coverage, so here we are with a new article about Colombian singer Maluma attending it for the second time.
Per the fashion house, Maluma wore a custom Atelier Versace look inspired by American cowboys, a theme that has also served as inspiration for several iconic Versace collections. The scarlet-red pieces were punctuated by signature Medusa stud work and married Versace DNA with American fashion history.
When it came to jewelry, he opted for a silver Maria Tash 8mm silhouette diamond long spike Eternity hoop earring among other dainty pieces.
One of the big statement pieces of the look was a gold–Michael Jackson inspired–chain glove, courtesy of the brand Asla. According to the designer CJ Aslan, the glove was made of 14k gold complete with Italian sterling silver nameplates, hand selected gems and a casted Pegasus pendant displayed on the index finger. Overall, the piece took 40 hours of hand work.
During a red carpet interview with E!, Maluma revealed that two of the nameplates on the custom Aslan glove said “Papi Juancho” which is the name of his current album and another said “Maluma“. There were also some stars, gems and an eagle on it; overall the musician described the creation as a ‘handful of dreams‘.
Groomer/hairstylist Cynthia Alvarez evened out his skin using Dr. Barbara Sturm and Kiehl’s products. She also colored his hair using Biolage Color Care Milk Rinse & Gelée.
The great manicurist Julie Kandalec kept Maluma‘s MANicure minimal but it’s refreshing to see that something once considered solely feminine can also be de-stigmatized and applied to men (especially if the man in question is perceived as an ideal of the ‘macho‘ type).
Down below you will find some red carpet interviews and behind-the-scenes videos for your viewing pleasure.
