Today we’ll start off the week with some punk energy, courtesy of Maisie Williams attending the UK premiere of “Pistol” at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on May 23, 2022.
Maisie donned a vintage black Junya Watanabe Fall 2002 Ready-to-Wear lacy ensemble with an open back from the personal archive of her stylists Alexandra and Kate, paired with Jimmy Choo Cass pumps in black nappa and patent leather.

She combined her dress with a Reflection de Cartier ring and earrings from the same line.
In the series, Williams plays Jordan, née Pamela Rooke, a punk pioneer who often styled Sex Pistols for performances and served as a muse to Vivienne Westwood, using her own clothing as a political statement.

You may have noticed that the actress opted for a punk/grunge range of looks for her press tour leading up to the London premiere, carefully choosing ensembles by brands such as Dilara Findikoglu, No. 21, Y/PROJECT and ultimately Junya Watanabe and you can bet, there was some true thought behind it as she revealed to Vogue, tracing the parallels between herself and Jordan: “Throughout my entire life, I’ve felt that the way that I look is different to the way that I am. People think I’m smaller personality-wise based on my exterior—but with Jordan, she had such a grand exterior, and with such nuance behind that.”
Not ditching the glamour, Williams collaborated with her stylists Kate Foley and Alexandra Cronan, wearing outfits that intentionally showed some skin: “I was inspired by the way Jordan mixes form and structure with flesh and her own body. Growing up in this industry, I feel like I was sexualized from quite a young age, and for that reason, it made me want to hide my body. But with Jordan, she fixed the male gaze in on itself; she’s so confrontational in the way that she reveals her body, that it actually makes other people feel uncomfortable, rather than herself.”
As a true environmental activist, it does not surprise her recycling of a 2002 look, especially because also Vivienne Westwood has been known to give new life to clothes by using old garments and scraps of fabric to create new masterpieces. A full circle moment, so to say, paying homage to the creatives of that time.
