I must admit that I am not fond of horror movies, but I was keen on watching “Lisa Frankenstein” because I was sure that the role of Zelda Williams (Robin Williams‘ daughter) as a director for it was a guarantee of success.
I wasn’t wrong, and while enjoying a quite unpredictable flick, I was also happy to discover a new face, that of Liza Soberano.
I looked her up and I found out that she has a significant fanbase so I thought it might be a good idea to introduce you to her because she is very talented and–might I add–unbelievably beautiful.
Through her, I got the chance to discover new talents and I am truly grateful.
For the Los Angeles premiere of the movie, Soberano donned a lacy Olivier Theyskens multicolor sleeveless ensemble, shown at the Tahiti Fashion Week 2022, paired with a black rosette choker and black Jimmy Choo Max 150mm peep toe platform sandals.
She complemented her moody dress with A.JAFFE diamond stud earrings and diamond stackable rings.
In an interview for WhoWhatWear, we found out that the dress was specifically chosen because the colors mirrored the ones that are present in the movie and also because it reminded Liza of the character Sally in “The nightmare Before Christmas“.
In another interview for Vogue Philippines, her stylist for the occasion, Maeve Reilly, explained further: “We wanted something edgy, moody, and dark in color to represent the film. […] We wanted to keep it really dark. The silhouette was really beautiful and it really shows off how beautiful her face is. The different textures in the dress are also something unique.”
Reilly also shared that originally, the premiere was supposed to be held at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, which played into the styling of the look.
Her makeup and hairstyling were courtesy of her trusted glam team, Mickey See and Renz Pangilinan respectively.
Soberano asked Pangilinan to reference a hairdo Kylie Jenner wore to the Schiaparelli Haute Couture fashion show last September.
In the same aforementioned WhoWhatWear interview, the actress elaborated further: “There was a moment where her hair was done, and it was these beautiful, luscious curls, but then there were also moments where she would pin it up in a very elegant but not-too-fixed way.”
For the makeup, she envisioned something darker, more in line with the horror aspect of the movie but her MUA See convinced her to rely on her signature look people know her for in the Philippines.
The result was a hint of peach eyeshadow on the eyes, flawless skin, a fine black eyeliner flick, natural looking false lashes and a matching glossy lip to finish everything off. A subtle highlight just on the high points of the cheeks and on her collar bones was an ulterior touch of class.
To keep everything chic, the American-Filipino actress also showed off a short French manicure.
To conclude, a star like her, collaborating with someone like Maeve Reilly doesn’t come as a surprise to us, because her favorite styles are right up the pro’s alley as she revealed in the same WhoWhatWear interview: “What I liked about her as I was reviewing her portfolio and Instagram was [that] you can definitely get a sense of Maeve‘s taste and style. You can see that in everyone she styles, but everybody still has their own individuality and their own character.”
“I told [Reilly] I’m a ‘less is more’ type girl. I don’t like going for bold colors or trendy silhouettes.”
Surely I can imagine that it was an incredible opportunity for the stylist to work with a client who is already very beloved in another country but who would love to expand on that and build their brand in the United States.
