Following the announcement of Lady Gaga attending the upcoming Venice Film Festival with her latest project “Joker: Folie à Deux“, I decided to write about the last time she attended the event in 2018.
For the red carpet of the movie “A Star is Born“, Lady Gaga was literally floating in an organza Valentino Haute Couture evening dress embroidered with pale rose feather merlons from the Fall 2018 Couture collection, paired with black custom Giuseppe Zanotti platform stiletto boots (a recurrence of her wardrobe).
To complement her look, she wore a pair of Chopard white diamond earrings in 18ct white gold from the Haute Joaillerie Collection, featuring two D-flawless pear-shaped diamonds of 7cts each and two D-flawless round-shaped diamonds of 2,5cts each.
On her left ring finger you could also spot her previous pink diamond engagement ring from Christian Carino.
Gaga‘s makeup was courtesy of Sarah Tanno, long time friend and collaborator of the artist.
Tanno matched Stefani‘s dress, applying pink hues on her lids, blended towards her temples. The pro also made sure to comb Gaga‘s eyebrows upwards, to give them a more natural and airy feel.
The celebrity MUA made sure to complement the dress with a creamy nude lipstick that she accurately defined with a darker lip pencil.
The products used were all from Marc Jacobs Beauty (the brand is currently on a hiatus and is slated to come back in 2026, allegedly).
Here is a full breakdown of the products and a little tutorial to follow, thanks to Forbes:
“For the lips, Tanno used a lipstick and lip liner. Poutliner Longwear Lip Liner Pencil in ‘Honey(bun)‘ in a rosy nude shade and Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in ‘Georgie Girl‘ a cotton candy pink.
For the eyes, Lady Gaga‘s artist started with Under(cover) Perfecting Coconut Eye Primer and then applied a copper and peach glitter Highliner Glam Glitter Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in ‘Glitz Blitz‘ all over her eyelids. Then, Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in ‘Pink of Me‘, a powder pink shade, on her waterline.
Next, she applied a matte light brown shade of O!Mega Gel Powder Eyeshadow in The Big O! in her eye crease and blended a chocolate brown eyeshadow shade Daddi-O! around the eye line. Next, Tanno used an iridescent pink of the Eye-Conic Multi-Finish Eyeshadow Palette in ‘Fantascene‘ in the shade ‘She Said‘ all over her lids. The effect helped bring out a soft pink undertone on the eyes.
Finally, Tanno finished Gaga’s stunning eye look with Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in ‘Blacquer‘ at the base of her eyes. For extra volume, she added Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara.”
Frederic Aspiras styled the “Born This Way” singer’s hair in a chic chignon that gave off Old Hollywood vibes; this was indeed the first time Lady Gaga acted in a movie, so seeing her delving into a “diva’s wardrobe” didn’t exactly come as a surprise.
To complete the look, Gaga also showed off a coffin shaped, light pink manicure, in order not to disrupt the flow of different nuances of pink that were present in the look.
The American singer-songwriter was styled by Sandra Amador and Tom Eerebout who did an egregious work at the time, helping Gaga transition from music superstar to movie icon.
For an important red carpet such as the one of the Venice Film Festival it was also nice to see Germanotta pay homage to Italy by wearing an Italian brand, especially one like Valentino that truly aligns with her values of freedom of expression and respect for the minorities.

A Star Is Born is a 2018 American romantic musical drama film produced and directed by Bradley Cooper (in his directorial debut) and written by Cooper, Eric Roth and Will Fetters.
The movie follows a hard-drinking musician (played by Cooper) who discovers and falls in love with a young singer (played by Gaga). It is the fourth filmed version of the 1937 film, after the 1954 musical and the 1976 musical.
In the movie, Lady Gaga plays the role of Ally Maine, a singer-songwriter who is discovered by Jack (played by Cooper) and later becomes his wife.
