Actress Kate Winslet attended the London premiere of “Avatar: The Way of Water” on December 06, 2022. Do you think you have already seen her dress before? You may be right.
For the world premiere, Winslet stunned in a Badgley Mischka – Look 29 smoke crepe racer gown with black diamond embroidery from the Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear collection.
Fun fact about the gown? She wore it already to the premiere of “The Dressmaker” at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival.
She paired the look with glittery black Jimmy Choo pumps and a Longines watch (both difficult to identify because of the pictures available). The actress has been the latter’s Brand Ambassador since 2010, it’s definitely sort of a family affair at this point.
Her accessories consisted in Georgina Skan diamond Cage earrings and a diamond embellished cocktail ring among others.
Makeup artist Lisa Eldridge revealed on her Instagram that Kate wanted something subtle and pretty for her makeup that just enhanced her natural beauty, hence why the pro used a glittery and soft copper-y eyeshadow to open up her eyes and framed them with a fine line of eyeliner and natural looking false lashes. Natural rose-y lips completed the look.
Nicola Clarke styled the “Titanic” actress hair in a soft wavy bun with side-swept wavy bangs–keeping up with the airy and breezy feel of her ensemble.
Her natural French manicure was courtesy of Lorraine Griffin.
Kate has been working with stylist Cheryl Konteh for quite some time and even though Winslet gravitates toward black and white most of the time, it was nice to see her step out of her comfort zone, by making a conscious choice and rewearing an outfit she already wore 8 years ago, in a shade that not many would be able to pull off.
Kudos to Kate and Konteh for setting a positive example for others.
Major celebrities have the power to lead such a change.
Avatar: The Way of Water is a 2022 American epic science fiction film directed by James Cameron, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver from a story the trio wrote with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.
Produced by Lightstorm Entertainment and TSG Entertainment and distributed by 20th Century Studios, it is the sequel to Avatar (2009) and the second installment in the Avatar film series.
Kate Winslet stars as Ronal, a free diver of the Metkayina and Tonowari‘s wife, who is pregnant. Shooting all her scenes only took a month and it marks her first time working with performance capture and motion capture altogether.
She, like most of the cast, also had to learn free diving for the film; while filming an underwater scene, she held her breath for over seven minutes, a new record for any film scene shot underwater.
