Sometimes we like talking about people who are not necessarily part of the fashion circle but who are masters at making changes in society: we are talking about actor turned director Jordan Peele.
His outfit for the world premiere of “Nope“, held at TCL Chinese Theatre on July 18, 2022 in Hollywood, California has a story to tell and we welcome stories here.
Peele donned a purple custom Bode double-breasted suit that probably took inspiration from an ensemble from the Pre-Fall 2022 Menswear collection.
He also accessorized it with a Cartier watch (not identifiable), a pair of black Jimmy Choo loafers with a woven patter on the sides of the vamp and Andy Wolf ‘AW/earness’ opticals .
As you can see, the nod to the movie poster was pretty evident.
Jordan himself said on the red carpet during a CBS Los Angeles interview: “The suit is inspired by the film, is inspired by the themes in the film… this here (pointing at the embroidery on the right lapel) you might recognize it as a sort of like… a detection device…”
The thought behind his look for the premiere is a testament to the connection between the director and his art, something I am truly happy to see during premieres.
I’d also like to shine a light on Bode, the designer of choice for the occasion. I am proud of whoever supports female entrepreneurs and who wears clothes designed by people who respect the environment.
Their official statement reads:
“Bode is a luxury menswear brand that expresses a sentimentality for the past through the study of personal narratives and historical techniques. Modern workwear silhouettes united with female-centric traditions of quilting, mending, and appliqué shape the collections. Each piece tells a story and is tailor-made.
Emily Adams Bode Aujla was the first female designer to show at NYFW: Men’s. She is paving the way for women entrepreneurs in the menswear industry. In 2016, the brand began with a collection of one-of-a-kind garments composed entirely of antique textiles and continues to reinvigorate American menswear through the art of storytelling and preservation.”
Simone Frajnd did the director/actor’s grooming, using products by Carbonnique and Caldera + Lab.
