Today I wanted to write about something different, something futuristic, and a little bit out of the ordinary color-wise.
What came to mind was an incredible ensemble I saw actress Joey King wearing for the New York premiere of “Despicable Me 4“.
For the occasion, King donned a mint Sportmax long sleeveless dress from the Spring-Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection, paired with white Gianvito Rossi Plexi 105 pumps with PVC inserts.
She complemented it with Sunnei ‘Clessidra‘ earrings with silver trims (same model as pictured below, different metal), a Milko Boyarov Worm Chain ring in 925 recycled silver on her right middle finger and a Hirotaka ‘Dune‘ Double Finger ring on her left index and middle fingers.
The actress has that kind of face that could literally pull off anything, and that’s what she did even this time.
Her long time friend and collaborator Allan Avendaño opted for a mint eyeshadow that matched her dress, then applying natural looking falsies especially towards her temples to elongate her eyes. Abundant coats of mascara on the lower lash line and rose-y lips sealed the deal.
The hair was styled by Danielle Priano, a master when it comes to effortless and chic hairdos. In this particular instance, the pro went for a side parted long wavy do with a part of her hair gently tucked behind her right ear so she could show off her colorful and playful earring.
Manicurist Elle Gerstein decided to complement the color of the dress too–probably inspired by the way the light was reflected on the outfit–determining that mint chrome nails would have been the best choice.
King has been working with stylist Jared Eng through the years and what I have witnessed is someone who has perfected his craft and has not shied away from more avant-garde and mature fits that the actress can actually sell on the red carpet thanks to her way of posing and the importance her image has in the evolution of her career.
Eng has proven to be versatile even when it comes to menswear, taking a colorful approach that doesn’t confine him in the circle of people who can only think of black suits as the only safe option–it’s truly boring and uninteresting in the long run.
