For me it’s always a struggle to find interesting outfits in the menswear department, but I know that some stylists won’t leave me stranded and will satisfy my hunger for interesting perspectives.
That’s why as soon as I saw Joe Locke gracing the red carpet of this year’s Oscars, I knew I was in for a treat.
I’ve been following the heartthrob’s style evolution and I can say that I loved what he was wearing that night.
For the hectic event, Locke donned a Celine black tailcoat with a white men’s shirt underneath and a matching bow tie from the Men’s Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear collection, paired with a custom gold waistcoat and black Celine Chelsea boots.
The true pièce de résistance was his 40mm IWC Schaffhausen Portofino Automatic watch with a silver-coated dial and gold hands on a black alligator strap.
In an interview for GQ UK, the actor further elaborated, also singing the praises of the brand:
“We wanted to find something that was a bit more special for the Oscars. This Celine look I’m wearing has this gold waistcoat, which has 44,000 sequins in it, which feels very elevated and something that you can only really wear to the Oscars. It fits me so well, but it feels very me.”
In his mind it looked like an Oscars trophy and Celine‘s tailoring and suiting are of utmost importance to him.
“They fit so nicely, especially on my body. I think that the clothes are so classic, but they also feel so modern in a way that I really like.”
Apparently fashion also helped him discover and understand more sides of himself and how to navigate the world with his head held high: “I don’t really wear as much colour anymore. I think my tastes have matured along with my personality. […]
I feel like fashion itself is, in-part, acting. I think for some people it comes quite naturally, but it definitely doesn’t come naturally to me. So I definitely use the acting to feel good in outfits.”

Joe‘s fresh haircut and grooming was courtesy of Kristen Shaw who used the RŌZ Evergreen Style Cream to style his hair in defined curls.
Her makeup of choice was by Armani Beauty.
Locke was styled by Holly White who was instrumental in making the actor flourish fashion-wise.
White has worked with the “Heartstopper” actor since he was 17 and she is trying to make him dare a little bit more, delving into sexier and grungier looks, something he is seriously doing, step by step.
In an interview for WWD, she said it herself: “If I had shown him something sleeveless or a three-piece three years ago, he would’ve laughed at me, but my job is about building people’s confidence and getting them to a point where they feel like they want to start taking fashion risks.”
From what I have gathered, he tends to wear more darker and formal clothes for big occasions (premieres, award shows and fashion dinners) and quirkier/more colorful ones for less serious engagements such as presentations, parties and fashion related activities that grant him a certain kind of freedom of choice, e.g. fashion weeks.
