I never truly write about people who wear something as simple as denim so I thought I might change that narrative, because while I don’t necessarily like the textile, I can recognize that some designers really excel at working it.

That’s why today I am stepping out of my comfort zone and I’ll tell you what actor Joe Alwyn was seen wearing while walking the red carpet of the New York premiere of the movie “Kinds of Kindness“.

Alwyn wore a custom Prada sky blue light mohair jacket probably inspired by some designs from the Fall 2024 Menswear collection, over a light blue denim shirt and tie from the same collection.

Everything was paired with dark blue mohair trousers and black Prada patent leather Chelsea boots with a square toe.

He accessorized his look with two very simple rings on his left index finger and his right pinky, subdued but effective.

Kumi Craig was in charge of making the actor look his best and she opted for a short slightly messy hairstyle that romanticized the more structured nature of his ensemble.

As always, his stylist Rose Forde surprised us with the breadth of her references and for this occasion she seemed to have taken inspiration from Tommy Vercetti‘s suit in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as you can see from the picture above.

I am pretty sure there is a connection to the movie right here but I have not seen it yet because I am waiting for it to be available on Disney+ in two days so I’ll elaborate more on this aspect as soon as I can–it really pains me to wait but that’s what’s so involving and interesting about what I do here, I learn along the way too.

All in all, Joe is someone who fundamentally relies on safe choices when it comes to fashion and suits are what make his heart sing, so it was nice to see a sprinkle of a different approach for this event.

Kinds of Kindness is a 2024 absurdist black comedy anthology film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay he co-wrote with Efthimis Filippou.

Kinds of Kindness had its world premiere at the 77th Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2024.

In the movie, Joe Alwyn stars as a collectibles appraiser (in “The Death of R.M.F“), Jerry – an intoxicated car passenger (in “R.M.F. is Flying“) and Joseph – Emily‘s estranged husband (in “R.M.F. Eats a Sandwich“).
