Jody Taylor

Jody Taylor is a London based hairstylist with 20 years experience in the industry.

Jody has built his career on a passion for men’s hair and fashion, and it’s this obsession that has been the catalyst to his success.

Taylor began his career as an apprentice at the flagship hairdressing salon of Toni & Guy Mayfair, in 1999. For three years he studied under Anthony Mascolo as well as some of the industry’s other most influential figures.

His career progressed rapidly and it wasn’t long before Jody was teaching at the Toni & Guy academy, the company’s prestigious educational hub. Dividing his time between the Covent Garden salon and the academy, Jody became a popular figure as well as key member of the Toni & Guy artistic team. He was soon traveling around the world doing shows, seminars, education and sharing his knowledge and passion with other hairdressers.

Jody has created window campaigns, educational DVDs, and worked on the creative collections for Toni & Guy and Label M haircare products for many years, with the added responsibility of predicting future trends in men’s hair.

For five years Jody has headed the men’s creative cutting course, where he changed the structure and created a new programme, which has since become one of the most popular courses at the academy. Sharing his technical ability, his passion and knowledge of the history of men’s hair styling, Jody is always looking to progress his skills to create new techniques and shapes.

With a strong interest in men’s fashion, Jody started to work on creative shoots in his spare time. Jody not only became the Head of Men’s Education for Toni and Guy globally, but also gained the coveted titles of Men’s British Hairdresser of the Year in 2011, and Creative Heads Most Wanted Men’s Groomer 2018.

Having now clocked up 7 years of freelance in the world of men’s hair, Jody has established himself with some of Britain’s leading photographers, brands and celebrities.

Having built up a reputation for his forward-thinking men’s hairstyles, Jody began working on editorial shoots for the likes of Shortlist magazine7th Man, DramaBoys by GirlsOnes to Watch, and The Independent magazine

Jody has been a part of London fashion week for over 10 seasons. With his calm, cool approach, he enjoys assisting on teams just as much as he loves heading them up backstage. With the introduction of LCM in 2012 Jody has been head of the hair team for some of London’s finest designers such as Hackett, YMC, Hardy Amies, Baartmanssiegel, and Christopher Raeburn.

Building relationships in this way has given Jody the opportunity to express his knowledge and taste, but also given him the platform to show the next generation of barbers and hairstylists that making the transition to become session hairstylists is possible. And he still has as much of an appetite to learn and grow now, as he did at the start of his career.
