Jennifer Austin

Jennifer Austin is a Los Angeles-based stylist and creative director.

With a background in theater and costume design, she brings a transformative creativity to the fashion and entertainment industries.

Austin is a self-proclaimed “Cali Girl” who had an epiphany after a brutal car accident. Her pelvis was broken in three places and she was in the hospital for two months after a car accident. She took that moment to take a look at her life and she listened to God. That next December she volunteered at LA Fashion Week with no plans.

She started as a model in the fashion business but she never wanted to be one. There were little whispers because she was tall but “bottom heavy”, so she eventually quit.

Jennifer now works as main stylist for actress Angela Bassett who has given her free range and has allowed her to push the envelope with grace and sophistication.

The more Bassett steps out in these boundary-pushing outfits, the more Austin is achieving her goal of changing the perception people have about dressing for certain ages. “With Angela I push the lines of what society thinks a woman of a certain age should look and dress like—when I style my clients I dress them based on their personality, energy and spirit as well as their body type and what they realistically can pull off.”

Her work has been featured in the pages of Allure, Vogue Italia, Teen Vogue, and L’Officiel.

Austin’s celebrity clientele also includes Mel B, Tasha Smith, Nelson Estevez, Jill Scott, Chante Adams, Folake Olowofoyeku, Tamera Tomakili and Method Man.
