As you all may know, I am a sucker for vintage and everything that connects us to our distant past.
That’s why as soon as I saw what Jenna Ortega wore to this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Afterparty I could not contain my excitement any longer.

For the event, Ortega donned a pale gold Donna Karan gown with a plunging neckline from the Resort 2004 collection (Look 36, specified by the stylist’s assistant Alyssa Rabie).
Most notably, a fuchsia version of the dress was worn by Susan Sarandon to attend the CFDA Fashion Awards in June 2004 in New York.
When it came to her accessories, Jenna chose the Pomellato Together collection.
The Together choker necklace in rose gold and set with 60 white diamonds, complemented by a matching Together bracelet on her left wrist and another Together ring, both enhanced with white diamonds among others on her right index finger and middle finger.
On her feet, a pair of Christian Louboutin Rosalie Alta sandals with stiletto heel and front platform in the shade ‘Blush‘.

When I see a makeup like hers and I know that Mélanie Inglessis was in charge of it, I go on a deep dive and read several articles before writing here because I know that the pro usually chats with some outlets and editors, detailing the products she uses.
Ortega showed off a luxurious smokey eye and nude lips, a trademark that enhances her beauty and unconventional nature as a young actress, but also highlights Inglessis‘ ability to put her dark spin on every makeup look without overpowering it (something I love about her because she manages to keep things elegant at the same time).
I am glad to say that I found a piece from Marie Claire written by Hanna Lustig that did exactly that for me and I could integrate it with what Dior Beauty Lovers‘ Instagram account shared with its followers.

When it came to the actress’ hair, Bobby Eliot styled it in a middle parted, slightly wavy do which was achieved by using Olaplex Volumizing Blowdry Mist, Olaplex N°.7 Bonding Oil and the Olaplex N°.9 Bond Protector, L’Oréal AirLight Pro Hair Dryer, plus a curated combination of Bellami Hair Silk Seam Clip-ins in the colors Mochachino Brown in 18″ and Dark Brown in 18″.
Nail artist Thuy Nguyen painted Jenna‘s nails with a color that matched her dress, keeping her manicure elevated and subtle.
Once again, the “Wednesday” actress was styled by Enrique Melendez who–through all these years–has been able to create a coherent narrative for Jenna, even when he indulged in some method dressing for press tours here and there.
He did it in ways that are not too straight forward or too in your face, allowing us to dig deeper into inspirations, moodboards, feelings and visions, making people dream a little bit, especially those of us who use fashion as escapism or see it as a very useful tool to express ourselves.
