When I am feeling down I am not the kind of woman who tries to distance herself from the pain, which can be interpreted as something good or bad, depending from your point of view.
I consider myself an artist and my way to channel how I feel is also through imagery and clothing, that’s why I was looking for something dark and gloomy to write about.
What came to mind was Jenna Ortega‘s inspiring ensemble for her “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” press tour, especially its London stop, so let’s talk about it.
For the occasion, creative designer Harris Reed turned a Fromental Design ‘Plain Silk‘ Wall Covering in the shade ‘Delon‘ in a custom full up-cycled Wallpaper Demi Couture dress, paired with black velvet C’est Jeanne ‘Natalia‘ gloves.
If you can indeed see that the dress was crinkled on the red carpet is because its front panel was made out of paper, something the actress mentioned during an interview for Entertainment Tonight.
The dress was probably modeled after some designs stemming from the Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection and–as her stylist mentioned–inspired by Catherine O’Hara‘s looks and sculptures in the original movie.

She complemented the ensemble with black Brandon Blackwood Sali Platform Pumps in suede with their Signature B Logo, a pair of Fabergé x Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Spiral Earrings featuring a responsibly mined round Gemfields Mozambican ruby, set in 18k white gold and decorated with black UV enamel and round brilliant cut white diamonds, a Spiral Bombe Ring on her right index finger, a Spiral Wrap Ring featuring a pear-shaped responsibly mined Gemfields Zambian emerald on her left ring finger and another one with a red ruby on her left index finger.

Additionally, in some shots she was seen wearing a pair of black Sol Kyst Naomi Sunglasses in size Mini and a custom Ozias bag depicting the famous Beetlejuice house from the movie.
I deeply loved Jenna‘s natural makeup, courtesy of Mélanie Inglessis, which consisted in a see through base (you could see her freckles), a flick of sharp black eyeliner achieved with the LaBomme Angle Baby liquid eyeliner, and curled lashes thanks to the Kevin Aucoin Eyelash Top Curler.
Inspired by the dress, Inglessis told Glamour all the products she used:
– Dr. Barbara Sturm – Glow Cream
– Dior Forever Skin Glow – Hydrating Foundation in #2N
– Dior Forever Glow Maximizer – Highlighter in ‘Nude‘
– Nars – Afterglow Liquid Blush in ‘Brazen‘
– Dr. Barbara Sturm – Lip Balm
– Make Up For Ever – Artist Color Pencil in ‘Endless Cacao‘
– Le Rouge Français – Lipstick in ‘Le Nude Kafir‘
– Diorshow Iconic Overcurl – Mascara in ‘Black‘
We were also able to find out more about the “Wednesday” actress’ sleek and modern side parted hairdo, which also honored and paid homage to O’Hara‘s hair in the original “Beetlejuice” with a little detail on the side of her face.

Hairstylist Bobby Eliot revealed in a statement provided to JustJared.com his step-by-step process:
“STEP 1:
To start, Bobby applied Fenty Hair The Protective Type 5-In-1 Heat Protectant Styler, all over from root to ends to protect, hydrate, smooth, defrizz, detangle, and prep the hair before heat styling.
STEP 2:
Next, Bobby blow dried the hair straight for maximum shine and added clip-in extensions for extra volume. Then, Bobby flat ironed the hair to keep it sleek and straight.
STEP 3:
For the finishing touch, Bobby used the dynamic duo of the Fenty Hair The Controlling Type Hair-Thickening Edge Control Gel and Fenty Hair The Side Stick 3-In-1 Edge Styling Tool to detail a little hair swirl design on the sides of the face, which was a modern take on actress Catherine O’Hara‘s famous wavy side hairstyle in the original Beetlejuice movie.”

Jenna‘s manicure was hidden by her gloves so we couldn’t determine how it was except from her pedicure that was visibly red.
To conclude, Ortega was styled by Enrique Melendez who was able not to take method dressing too literally, working with unexpected and environment friendly materials, to convey the idea of a dreamy past where inspiration was allowed to run wild thanks to a director (Tim Burton) who never cared about what was mainstream and conventional.
It also mirrors Jenna‘s personality and appeal in a way, because she has a mind of her own and she is wise beyond her years. She has an aura, a star power that is difficult to decipher but that instantly attracts you to her–from her acting to her way of thinking, she embodies a type of personality that is harder and harder to come by.
Melendez has been able to grow and redefine his work with her, making it more appealing and intrinsic to the “Finestkind” actress’ vision of the world and of fashion all around.
