To close this week I decided to write about someone who I have not mentioned in over a year and whose style is definitely an integral part of his success, so much so that he also created his own fashion line.

Any guess? Well, the name Idris Elba should ring a bell.

For the London premiere of “Luther: The Fallen Sun“, Elba showed up in a buttonless Eve of Winston silvery-mauve tunic jacket, pintucked, pleated shirt collar bib and crease-front trousers.

He combined the ensemble with a silver Gucci Men’s 25H 40mm Tonal watch with a thin multi-layer case and five-link steel bracelet. The design of the watch was completed by the ‘GG727.25.A’ engraving—a reference to important numerical symbols within Gucci. The name, Gucci 25H, is attributed to a particularly symbolic talisman.

The shoes he chose to wear were a pair of black Christian Louboutin No Penny patent leather loafers.

On his left ring finger he also seemed to be sporting a Bulgari B.Zero1 rose gold ring with black ceramic spiral.

For those who don’t know it, Eve of Winston is Idris‘ own fashion brand, named after his parents Eva and Winston, also an apparent tribute to their style and influence on his life.

On the Today show, Elba actually told Savannah Guthrie: “I don’t sew but I sketched out my look. I really want to look like this.”

Jessica DeBruyne was in charge of the Black actor and DJ’s grooming, while Riaze Blade made sure his cut and fade looked as fresh as ever.

DeBruyne used of course S’ABLE Labs products to moisturize and keep Idris‘ skin in check. I say of course because if you have been living under a rock, you need to know that S’ABLE Labs is Idris Elba and Sabrina Elba’s skincare line and Jessica is its Chief Product Officer.

As it is often the case, the “Hijack” actor worked in tandem with stylist Cheryl Konteh, the unwavering force behind his fashion journey. If there is someone who understands his roots, his will to do good and his commitment to greater causes it’s her, who can also count Kate Winslet among her clients (another activist and supporter of justice).

Konteh definitely deserves more praise, she is a good one.

Luther: The Fallen Sun is a 2023 crime thriller film directed by Jamie Payne and written by Neil Cross.

It serves as a film continuation of Luther. The film stars Idris Elba (who also serves as a producer on the film), reprising his role as police detective John Luther.

The film is about the detective’s efforts to stop a wealthy serial killer’s complex schemes.
