I’ve been patiently waiting for the press tour of the prequel of “Hunger Games” especially because I knew Hunter Schafer was part of the cast and I was curious to know what her new style trajectory would be after her former stylist Law Roach announced his retirement.

What can I tell you? I am in awe of what I’ve seen these past weeks and I couldn’t be happier to write about the Berlin premiere of “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes“.

On the red carpet, Schafer looked otherworldly in a Schiaparelli crocheted puzzle dress with a hand-painted trompe l’oeil body, embellished with rhinestones from the Fall 2023 Couture collection paired with white leather Manolo Blahnik BB 105 heels.

Hunter‘s makeup was ethereal, focused on blushy tones and snow-like skin.
Celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Prevel tied everything together using the same rose-y tones on the model’s eyelids and deepening them on the crease. A matching creamy–almost smudged–lipstick finished off the look.

Here is the product breakdown, thanks to Prevel herself; all products used were courtesy of Shiseido:

“- Ultimune Power Infusing Serum;
Essential Energy Hydrating Cream;
Revitalessence Skinglow Foundation in ‘Ivory #120‘;
InnerGlow CheekPowder in ‘Twilight Hour #02‘;
SYNCHRO SKIN Invisible Silk Loose Powder;
Technosatin Gel Lipstick in ‘Voltage Rose #408‘.”

Hairstylist and groomer Jillian Halouska styled the “Euphoria” actress’ hair in a long, slightly wavy do with middle part–its color almost mashed together with some of the painted strokes on the dress. As Halouska put it: “A dream within a dream”.

There was an ongoing theme of lightness through every little facet of this ensemble. Visual poetry and craftsmanship carefully and masterfully sewn together.

Thanks to a recent Vogue interview, we also have a little more insight into the creative process of this new fashion duo, here is what stylist Dara Allen had to say about it: “We’ve been having so much fun. Hunter and I wanted to play with the creativity and ingenuity of her character, Tigris, while pushing the envelope with fashion on the red carpet. Coming from the world of editorial styling, I approached this tour like it was a living, moving fashion story inspired by the films and her character.”

Another little fun fact about the dress is that it was Hunter‘s decision to pull it, which she revealed in an Interview Magazine conversation with her stylist:

“[H] Also, ever since it came out I’ve had that dress on my—
[D] Yeah, this was a you choice. Let the girls know.
[H] That was me.
[D] You sent that to me and I got the dress.”

I am truly pleased by this new collaboration, as I am often with stylists who have a serious and reputable editorial background. Allen managed to make her style recognizable and valued in a matter of weeks, for those who didn’t know her before.

I can confidently say that it was an instant Instagram follow from my part and that Hunter‘s latest red carpet appearances are some of the best of the whole year. Not to mention the very needed gender-nonconforming representation that’s taking place on such a big stage.
