In an interview for Vogue, her long-time stylist Lindsay Flores described the connection between Berry and Donatella and why they chose this specific dress: “We really responded to this Atelier Versace gown because it embodied the perfect balance of classic Oscar glamour met with a modern rock and roll edge. Halle has a personal relationship with Donatellaand has worn both Donatella and Gianni [designs] over the years. The Versace aesthetic is all about strong and powerful women, which is so intrinsically Halle.”

Berry explained further: “I have always marched to the beat of my own drum, and I think this red-carpet look encapsulates that. The dress is glamorous with a sense of romance that made me feel feminine and fresh. With this look, I celebrate my natural hair by allowing it to be wild and free.”

Hairstylist Castillo used MOP hair products and T3 Micro tools to achieve the natural look.

She completed her ensemble with a Forevermark diamond bangle stack, a statement two-finger ring and a pair of drop earrings.
