Hailee Steinfeld loves the MET Gala and for her 10th time she attended it in 2021, she did not look like her usual self. Let us tell you why and how.
For the gala, Steinfeld wore a made-to-measure Iris Van Herpen ‘Magnetosphere‘ dress in collaboration with the artist Rogan Brown from the Fall 2021 Couture collection. The collection was inspired by the view from Apollo 8, the first-ever crewed spacecraft to leave Earth’s orbit and witness the Earthrise from the Moon’s horizon.
Hailee‘s desire to wear this kind of outfit is even more impactful because events such as the MET Gala pretty much require custom made dresses and this was a way to be sustainable and looking incredible at the same time.
The Magnetosphere dress the actress was wearing, was indeed created with Parley Ocean Plastic®️, sourced from upcycled marine debris in collaboration with Parley for the Oceans (a nonprofit environmental organization that focuses on protection of the oceans, established in 2012).
According to Vanity Fair: “The Magnetosphere Dress, which took over 640 hours to make, is a product of the collaboration between Iris van Herpen—a brand with a singular knack for trippy, technologically-inspired creations—and the artist Rogan Brown, known for creating intricate paper cuttings that resemble something you’d find in a petri dish run wild. The result: not so much a dress as a myriad of relief sculptures, made of hand and laser-cut layers of Parley Ocean Plastic, individually stitched to encircle the bodice, forming one extremely delicate circle of life.”

The “Hawkeye” actress accessorized the look with a pair of Jimmy Choo gold satin Max platform sandals (in the same model as pictured, not the same texture), and dainty jewelry: Vrai Solitaire Trillion Studs and Mixed Cuff Rings designed with sustainably created diamonds and recycled solid gold.
How to be environmentally conscious in a right and fabulous way.
The clutch she was carrying seems to be a gold Jeffrey Levinson.
Hailee‘s perfect skin was courtesy of La Mer, here is what makeup artist Kristine Studden used to prep her skin (no makeup details were available):
– The Treatment Lotion;
– The Concentrate;
– Crème de La Mer;
– The Eye Concentrate.
Steinfeld stepped out of her comfort zone and opted for a blonde wig that matched her outfit, while her nails–or should we say claws–were nude and almost mixed with her skin tone as if they were an extension of her body. Knowing about the earthy nature of the outfit, it wouldn’t surprise us.
