Model–and now entrepreneur–Gigi Hadid has been one of the highlights of the CFDA Fashion Awards 2019 for the longest time, in my mind. Her outfit for the occasion transcended genders and that’s what I love about fashion.
For the event, Hadid donned a custom light blue Louis Vuitton Men ensemble, consisting of a long pleated skirt, over a pair of long cigarette pants and a matching open blazer. The creative director at the time, the late Virgil Abloh, took inspiration from the Fall 2019 Menswear collection.
She also wore a padded belt on her blazer and it resembled a shoulder bag on which the number ’23’ was embroidered, symbolizing the day the model was born (April 23, 1995). The designs shown on the runway had the number ’54’ embroidered, referring to 1854, the year the House of Louis Vuitton was founded.
The blonde beauty accessorized the look with Yeezy Season 6 reflective mules and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
MUA Carolina Gonzalez painted Gigi‘s eyelids with nude-ish tones that tied in together with the blush and the lipstick. A look we can all replicate for our everyday lives. Here are the products used, courtesy of Maybelline (slightly edited for clarity):
“Concealer – Maybelline – Instant Age Rewind Eraser in ‘Light Honey‘;
Foundation – Maybelline – Fit Me! Matte + Poreless in ‘230 Natural Buff‘;
Contour – Maybelline – City Bronzer in 100;
Brow – Maybelline – Total Temptation Brow Definer in ‘Blonde‘;
Eyes – Maybelline – The Nudes Palette;
Mascara – Maybelline – The Colossal Volum’ Express;
Cheeks – Maybelline – Fit Me! Blush Fard A Joues in ‘Nude‘;
Lips – Maybelline – Color Sensational Matte Lipstick in ‘Daringly Nude‘.”
Hairstylist Danielle Priano created long flat iron waves on Gigi, using the ghd Festival Styler and added more length to her hair, using Hidden Crown Hair Crown Clip Ins #8 and #10 in 22 inches.
It’s so sad to reminisce about the short period of time Virgil Abloh was afforded on this earth to change the trajectory of fashion. It’s also sad to think about all the people who were his friends such as Gigi or her sister Bella, who always showed up for him and believe in his vision, no matter what people said.
Today we’d like to celebrate him, for no particular reason other than the fact that we all miss him.

Side note: we know that a controversial brand is part of this article and in light of recent events we’d like to say that we do not support said brand and the actions of its founder.
The award show analyzed in the article took place in 2019, and for the sake of accuracy we had to mention it, simple as that. No correlation to recent events.
