Let’s start off this week with an unusual ensemble that immediately caught my attention during the Los Angeles premiere of “Barbie“. The one Gal Gadot proudly wore while smiling for the cameras.

On the red carpet, Gadot was seen in a brown JW Anderson pinstripe short dress with a constructed, layered skirt from the Resort 2024 collection paired with Femme LA Whiskey open-toe Slippers with gold heel in the style ‘Cafe‘.

She accessorized her ensemble with a white Aupen Purpose handbag, Tiffany & Co. Lock earrings in yellow gold with diamonds, a yellow gold Lock ring with diamonds and another yellow gold Lock ring from the same brand stacked together on her left ring finger.

Jo Baker, her makeup artist for the occasion, opted for a bronzed, beachy, dewy, golden sun-kissed latte makeup, using toffee and bronze tones to complement the dress. She used TIRTIR Korean skincare as prep, Stila Cosmetics and her own Bakeup Beauty products to achieve Gal‘s fresh look.

The Israeli actress’ hair was styled in a simple, sleek, middle part ponytail by celebrity hairstylist Jenny Cho, while her short oval-shaped nails were painted by manicurist Sarah Chue with CND nail polishes in the shades ‘Fedora‘ and ‘Cuppa Joe‘.

In an interview that Chue had with Nailpro, she shared her inspiration behind the colors used and a little tutorial: “I love a beautiful contrast. The dark sheen brown against a light brown leather gives a fashionable pop to the look!”

How-To (slightly edited for clarity, courtesy of the online nail publication):

  1. Nail prep;
  2. Apply one thin layer of base coat and cure in a LED nail lamp;
  3. Apply two layers of a dark brown polish with purple undertones (Fedora from CND).
    Cure when finished;
  4. Apply one layer of brown polish for a sheen finish (Cuppa Joe from CND). Cure;
  5. Apply one layer of no-wipe top coat to seal the color. Cure;
  6. Finish by applying cuticle oil to condition the nail and cuticles.

I appreciated the “Wonder Woman” actress’ riskier approach when it came to styling during this event.

I’d also say that there a slight avant-garde feel to the dresses she is wearing under the direction of Karla Welch, and maybe it was the change she was going for after working with Micaela Erlanger and Elizabeth Stewart, who both did a great job during different stages of her life.

JW Anderson is not for everyone but Gal totally owned it this time.
