Gabriella Karefa-Johnson is a New York based stylist and global Vogue contributing editor.
Karefa-Johnson brings a new attitude to styling and her approach is largely narrative and focused on diversifying representation in the high fashion landscape.
She creates work that is energetic and opulent, communicating the vast possibility of styling with disparate colors, materials, silhouettes and textures to tell a common story.
As the former Fashion Director of GARAGE Magazine, Gabriella has applied this fresh perspective to the biannual print publication’s fashion coverage by working with a roster of bright young talents including Ethan James Green, Nadine Ijewere and Campbell Addy.
Along with her editoria, Gabriella has fostered relationships with like-minded commercial clients, working to expand and elevate the representational field which include the paradigm-shifting, size-inclusive brand Universal Standard, and art directing and styling Rosie Assoulin’s new venture for working women By Any Other Name.
Gabriella’s interest in exploring new ways in which fashion can be captured in the digital space, has earned her a Webby nomination for ‘Fine Dining’, the ASMR-meets-fashion video featuring viral digital artist BreadFace and fine jewelry from Chanel Haute Joaillerie and Repossi.
She also continues to explore social media where she values the medium’s many potentialities; and actively engages a growing following that is interested in navigating the changing face of fashion along with her.
