After a long day I am finally sharing with you my second article about this year’s MET Gala. I think the look I’m going to write about has been misunderstood by many, that’s why I’d like to add my humble spin on it.

Here is Emma Chamberlain attending the gala for the third time.

For the official red carpet, Chamberlain wore a Miu Miu custom light blue radzmire jacket and skirt set with a crystal bodysuit detail and completed the look with a pair of Miu Miu light-blue satin sandals.

Although for many her little two-piece may have seemed not relevant to the theme, this is not exactly true. If you look back through Chanel‘s archives, you’ll probably see the similarities her dress had with the looks that were part of the Chanel Spring 2014 Couture collection by Karl Lagerfeld. Even the hue of her ensemble seems to be a more modern take on it. More decisive and less “mature”.

She paired her outfit with an Etincelle de Cartier ring on her left index finger, a 5 row Cartier Nigeria pavé diamond ring on her right ring finger, a Cartier High Jewelry necklace and a pair of Cartier pendant earrings, placed near C de Cartier studs.

Her makeup look consisted in an intense smokey eye and brown-ish lips, simply put: full of colors that were all the rage in the 90’s (I still wear them and love them, so I know).

According to a Lancôme press release (the Youtube personality became a Global Ambassador for the brand this past January), the 90’s were indeed the main source of inspiration; here is what Emma‘s MUA for the occasion, Kelsey Deenihan had to say about it: “It’s all about a nod to the legendary Karl Lagerfeld and the late 90’s with Emma’s Met Gala look. Her fabulous structured two-piece and matching headband are a bit more polished, so we wanted to compliment and balance that with deeper, more edgy makeup. We decided to go with a 90’s brown lip and a rough, blue smokey eye to complete the look.”

Hairstylist Sami Knight styled Emma‘s hair in a long, sleek do with middle part, adding to it some inches with the Luxy Hair 24″ Classic Clip-Ins that he color matched to the internet mogul’s existing hair.

To prep Chamberlain for the red carpet he also used tools by Hairitage. According to an article by Rolling Stone: “Knight used the HairitageRound We GoCeramic and Ion Brush to help comb through Chamberlain’s natural hair and extensions after washing and conditioning. […] Knight used the brush alongside Hairitage’s ‘Comin’ in HotHairdryer to achieve a fast and even blowout. […] Knight followed up with the Hairitage Smooth Sailing Heated Ceramic Brush to add a ‘megawatt shine and softness’.”

[…] “Once the full head was applied, I went on to bring the ends round with my ‘Hairitage Curl Envy Curling Iron‘, just to add in a little movement at those ends. […] Once the headband was applied, I gave a light coating of anti-humidity hairspray, to try and counteract the New York weather.”

When it came to nails, manicurist Thuy Nguyen created for the internet mogul a square French milky manicure, perfectly in tune with the 90’s vibe of the ensemble (this kind of manicure was very popular at that time) and it also matched the white accents peeking through her outfit here and there.

I think Emma and stylist Jared Ellner are a match made in heaven. He knows he has a trendsetter to style and he knows people will eventually emulate her any way they can. For this reason I think she embodies our current fashion Zeitgeist and on top of it, she is also a career woman who has slowly built her empire and who knows the responsibility that comes from working online nowadays.

I am closely observing her business savviness and I am inspired by her.

All in all, this was one of my favorite looks.
