This week will start with a bang, thanks to the sophisticated but at the same time risqué gown Ellie Goulding wore to the BRIT Awards 2020. I dug deep for this old one, which makes writing about it even more worthwhile.
For the award show, Goulding donned a Koché hand embroidered Swarovski patchwork dress from the Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection.
According to the brand, the dress required 800 hours of zigzag stitching and 500 jet color Swarowski crystals.
The singer paired the look with black Jimmy Choo Holly 120 platform sandals, black Coco de Mer London Mia Brazilian knickers and Cartier jewelry, specifically: a gold Juste un Clou ring, a diamond one in yellow gold and a Cactus de Cartier yellow gold diamond ring among others.
Ellie‘s makeup was courtesy of Lucy Wearing who opted for a natural look and a defined lower lash line with just a hint of plum eyeshadow on her eyes. To add to the natural feel, she also used Edy London false lashes.
Hairstylist Lotte O’Shea styled Goulding‘s hair in a low wavy ponytail with gentle tendrils caressing her face. She also used a hair tie matching the color of the entertainer’s hair to make everything even more cohesive.
Seen the intricate nature of the dress, the manicure was also natural.
Goulding‘s stylist Nathan Klein has an editorial approach to styling, which in my humble opinion is always a plus. This can lead to uncommon ensembles on the red carpet that make justice to a fashion landscape as rich as the English one (the place where the show took place, London).
Moreover, Koché as a brand, “fights for values of openness in fashion: diversity and inclusivity of genders, body shapes, social and geographical origins”. I think it was the perfect choice for someone like Ellie Goulding and also in line with Klein‘s ethics.
I also admired the self-confidence the “Love Me Like You Do” singer exuded while wearing it, sometimes it’s the only thing you need.
