I would like to close this week by writing about one of my favorite ensembles from the London premiere of “Barbie“.

Dua Lipa and Versace are a match made in heaven and after their collaboration on “La Vacanza” collection I can honestly say that the entertainer is truly someone who understands the house’s codes and reinterpreted them in such a fine way for the collection.

For the premiere, in fact Dua donned a Versace long multicolor dress with gold Greca straps from the Pre-Fall 2023 “La Vacanza” collection (which she co-designed with Donatella Versace), paired with light blue Versace metallic sandals with crystals and butterflies.

The accessories were of course a Versace bonanza: we are talking about Butterfly Medusa stud earrings, a matching choker and matching bracelet on her right wrist, a Crystal Butterflies cuff ring on her left hand and a different pink and purple version on the other, a Crystal Butterflies palm cuff bracelet on her right hand, and in some paparazzi shots (that we can’t display here because of copyright laws), she was also seen carrying a Versace Floral Summer metal mesh clutch.

Lipa‘s makeup was courtesy of Lisa Eldridge, quite common when she is in the UK. She opted for a natural, glowy look with separate lashes, combed semi-laminated brows and a mauve lip.

The hair was styled by Rio Sreedharan in a sleek high ponytail, probably the wisest choice since the dress and the accessories were the center of attention–it was also the easiest way to show off her opulent stacked choker.

Dua‘s nails were courtesy of Kim Truong, who was truly kind by sharing the inspiration behind the manicure and the products used on her Instagram.

Here is what she had to say: “We wanted to create a stunning two-tone French manicure for Dua Lipa, capturing the essence of Barbie. Using OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘Hi Barbie!‘ as the pink base and ‘Alpine Snow‘ on the tips, we achieved a striking contrast. With Dua‘s elegant clear rhinestone dress, our goal was to bring the ultimate pop of Barbie pink to her look.”

Here’s the process:

“1. Apply one coat of OPI Natural Nail Base Coat;
2. apply one coat of OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘Hi Barbie!’ to each nail, let dry, then apply second coat and allow to dry completely;
3. create a white French tip using OPI Nail Lacquer in ‘Alpine Snow‘. Apply a second coat if more coverage is needed and allow it to dry completely;
4. apply OPI Top Coat.”

As we all know by now, the English and Albanian singer has been working with stylist Lorenzo Posocco for the longest time, one of the Italian treasures we are most proud of.

Posocco is in tune with the entertainer, he has the finger on the pulse when it comes to anything fashion and he injects youthfulness and novelty each time he works with a new artist (see what he is doing with Italian singers Ariete, Marco Mengoni and Elodie or model Vittoria Ceretti–a master of his craft).

He plays with sexiness in a new way, unapologetic and powerful–indeed the artists he works with are among my favorite ones (and I truly don’t like Italian music as an Italian myself).

This should mean something, right?
